Last week we marked the end of another successful 2023-24 with our annual End of Financial Year celebration. It was fantastic to see everyone come together from across the Group, enjoying great food, drinks and conversation.     As always, a highlight of the evening was the annual Schiavello Awards. A huge congratulations to those who were recognised for their outstanding efforts this year, with a special mention to our Employee of the Year 2024 - Luke Bayley, Director and State Manager, Schiavello Systems WA. Luke’s leadership, dedication and solutions-focused mindset make him a very deserving winner. This week our Queensland team celebrated NAIDOC Week with an intimate showroom event for clients and industry partners. Speaking to this year’s NAIDOC Week theme ‘Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud’ was our very own Alec Brown, Director of our partner Indigenous company Bunin. Alec shared his story and more details about the launch of Bunin whilst guests enjoyed a selection of native Australian foods and beverages provided by local Indigenous businesses. Thanks to all who joined us, including Gavin and Lucy from the Department of Education's Engagement and Partnerships team, Carolyn Solley from Hassell, Laura Edwards from SHAPE Australia and Kellie Ninnes from Actuity. At Melbourne University, our Schiavello Construction team, along with Schiavello’s in-house joinery subsidiary, Prima Architectural, collaborated closely and seamlessly with structural engineers, architects, and Melbourne University to create a space that is both practical and aesthetically pleasing. Key design highlights include: Curved Ceiling Bulkhead: A visually striking element that anchors the design. Ceiling-Mounted Joinery Units: Featuring hanging shelves and adjustable storage to maximise utility. Perforated Metal Plinths & Chrome Fixtures: Adding a sleek, modern finish. A control room is far from your standard work environment; shifts are long, work is high-stakes and tasks require sharp attention to detail.    At Rio Tinto’s Perth Operation Centre, located 1,600 kilometres away from the Pilbara Operations, the Port and Rail Logistics (P&RL) team are tasked with ensuring the safe delivery of iron ore on trains from mine to port.    As a result of Rio Tinto’s annual people survey, it became apparent that the team were eager to transform their ten-year-old control room environment into a modern workspace.   Read more about how collaboration was key to this control room transformation below.    https://lnkd.in/gZAJtaMb   #riotinto #controlroom #modernworkspace #controldesks #schiavellofurniture

"Keep the Fire Burning: Blak, Loud and Proud" celebrates the enduring strength of First Nations culture, symbolising connection to Country and community. By engaging Aboriginal elders and consulting the local Kaurna community, we were able to honour and preserve traditions, customs, and language in the development of the Blackwood Community Hub. From the name of the new Blackwood Library and Community Centre, Tiwu Kumangka, meaning 'yellow-tailed black cockatoo' and 'coming together' in Kaurna language, to the smoking ceremony at the opening, every element reflects the rich cultural heritage and values of the Kaurna people. #schiavelloconstruction #schiavello #construction #NAIDOCweek2024 #keepthefireburning #tiwukumangka #kaurnacountry

It’s one thing to be recognised at the Best of NeoCon Awards and another to read the specific feedback from the esteemed panel of jurors. A group of more than 50 architects, designers, specifiers, enterprise clients, facility managers, and top business media judged the products on-site at THE MART this year, awarding our Focus Quiet Room GOLD in the Acoustics & Privacy: Work Pods category and Focus Booths SILVER in Acoustics & Privacy: Panels, Partitions, Screens and Space Dividers. Scale, design detail and the level of tailoring available within the Focus Quiet Room range stood out to the jurors, with one considering it “an amazing product! Well detailed and thought out – appreciate the customization and evolution of the work pod into huddle and social spaces”. They added “love the flexibility of this product on the sizing that can be configured, including the height flexibility…and that HVAC and sprinkler heads can be added or connected too.” Another admired the “strong choice of mock-up with the seesaw” noting it was “well in line with my expectations of Schiavello quality and design including design detail.” Jurors declared Focus Booth “indispensable additions to both workspaces and educational faculties, offering tailored solutions for various needs”. Complimenting their versatility and attention to detail, they added “Focus Booths efficiently address the demand for flexible, productive environments” and noted “the integration of power-enabled features adds convenience, alleviating the need for additional wiring.” It’s incredibly validating to see the design elements and innovations we work hard to finesse be recognised by external experts.
