Creating a sustainable Robotics Industry for Australia

About us

As the peak body for robotics in Australia, aspire to see an Australian robotics industry that supports the strength and competitiveness of our domestic industries; including mining, energy, agriculture, manufacturing, construction, avionics, defence, and many more. Whilst Australia has strong robotics and automation capabilities it still requires a more rapid adoption of robotics and automation via focussed efforts on education, workforce upskilling and job changes, positive narrative, cultural mindset, skill shortage, remoteness challenges, risk, safety and efficiency gains. By addressing these aspects, stronger collaboration has the potential to raise Australia’s domestic and international profile in robotics given our existing capabilities, unique economic and geographic features (resources industry, low population density, remoteness, extreme environments), and a strong demand already in place for these technologies. The network has four main objectives: Promote and facilitate the creation of a robotics manufacturing and technology industry in Australia; Support existing Australian robotics and automation companies and encourage collaboration; Increase the adoption of robotics technology across Australia, including in SME supply chains; Develop and foster a positive social narrative in Australia around robotics. Membership to the Robotics Australia Network is now open. Join us and amplify your impact as a robotics business in Australia.

Exciting Update from Our Network Member, Universal Field Robots! Universal Field Robots(UFR) is pushing the boundaries of safety and efficiency in mining with its UFR AutoPrep system. Designed for production hole preparation and surveying, this robotic system significantly reduces the need for manual labour in hazardous environments, providing real-time survey data without production delays. Traditionally, drill hole preparation is a labour-intensive task that puts workers at risk of injury and exposure to toxic contaminants. UFR AutoPrep, however, can be operated remotely or by a single operator from a sealed cabin, drastically reducing these risks. After successful trials at South32’s Cannington Mine and GOLD FIELDS’ Agnew gold mine, UFR AutoPrep is set to revolutionize underground mining operations. While the first release still requires an operator, future advancements aim to enable fully autonomous, teleremote operations. According to UFR Managing Director, Jeff Sterling, this innovation is a critical step towards achieving zero human entry in higher-risk underground jobs by 2030, as outlined by the Global Mining Guidelines Group (GMG). 🚀 Learn more in the International Mining article here:  https://joom.ag/m7td/p14 and join UFR on this journey to reshape the future of mining: https://lnkd.in/gbWnn7m.
