The Federal Parliament has passed the bill to pay super on the Commonwealth Parental Leave Pay scheme! 🎉 Our CEO Vicki Doyle says the new laws will help close the gender super gap and contribute to better retirement outcomes for Rest members and Australians. “Paid Parental Leave was the only common form of paid leave without compulsory super contributions, and this is one of the reasons so many female Rest members retire with less super than our male members,” said Vicki. “Now this law has passed, our members on the Parental Leave Pay scheme can start benefitting from the compounding returns on their entitlements from next July.” Read more 👉https://lnkd.in/g_yySeuB #Superannuation #FairSuper #SuperSimple

The Rest Investment team recently had the opportunity to discuss Indonesia’s growing economy with representatives of the Indonesia Investment Authority (INA) and the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) at the ASFA | The Voice of Super Investor Roundtable. This roundtable provided valuable perspectives about the geopolitical landscape and key economic growth areas of our nearest neighbour. This industry-wide discussion reflects the important role Australian super funds like Rest can have by investing in international areas that align with Australia's national interests. Thank you to ASFA for hosting a fantastic roundtable discussion. 🤝 Brett Backhouse, Rest’s Head of Portfolio Implementation and Monika Suryani, Rest’s Investment Securities Dealer are pictured below. #superannuation #investments
Last Friday, ASFA had an exciting day hosting an Investor Roundtable with the Indonesia Investment Authority (INA), Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), and key players from the Australian superannuation industry. The session covered key opportunities in Indonesia’s growing economy, with discussions spanning digital, healthcare, infrastructure, renewables, and critical minerals, alongside the continued development of the new capital city. INA's CEO, Ridha W. provided valuable insights into their partnerships and investment platforms. We’re eager to see these partnerships deepen and drive meaningful investment opportunities for both countries. On behalf of our 2 million members, thank you Paul Zahra for your leadership of the Australian Retailers Association (ARA) over the past years. 👏 Rest’s partnership with the ARA has flourished under your leadership, benefiting from your support for collaboration with retailers and policy makers on a number of critical issues including safety in the workplace.
Today I announced my resignation as CEO of the Australian Retailers Association (ARA). It has been an honour and privilege to lead the Australian retail industry and the ARA team through the most challenging five-year period in the history of the sector. As the ARA progresses to amalgamate with the National Retail Association (NRA), a professional goal I have long advocated for, I now believe I have completed what I set out to do for the sector. I have done my bit for the industry that has been so generous to me, and it’s now time for me to reset and refresh for new challenges and handover the baton to a successor. #thankyou #retailnews #retail

Our Chief Strategy and Corporate Affairs Officer Tyrone O'Neill recently joined Investor Group on Climate Change (IGCC) and Principles for Responsible Investment in Canberra to meet with parliamentarians and policy makers to discuss the importance of setting an ambitious Australian emission-reductions target for 2035. We represent about 2 million Australians, with over a million aged under 30 who will retire into a post-2050 world. We strongly support efforts to create long-term investment opportunities that enhance our members’ financial interests and also contribute to the quality of the world our members retire into. Read about our responsible investment approach: https://lnkd.in/gM2Mpd8D #superannuation
Excellent collaborate between Principles for Responsible Investment signatories and Investor Group on Climate Change (IGCC) members in Canberra over the last couple of days. Australian and international investors engaged all political colours across the Parliament to discuss how a credible 2035 emissions target can support investment in Australia and deliver financial benefits to millions of Australians. Shout out to participants who treaded the halls of Parliament, and engaged in constructive and thoughtful discussions on how to overcome barriers to investment in the face of global decarbonisation trends, keep the economy prosperous and unlock Australia’s vast clean economy opportunities.
