"It's good to know your language because it's really important and when the next generation comes along they'll be needing someone that knows how to speak language...we want the whole world to know about our language...also our culture and the way that we do things around in Australia" - Charlotte, Yuendumu 🥰

About us
Red Dust Role Models is a non-profit health promotion charity that seeks to improve the health and wellbeing of disadvantaged youth in remote communities. The organisation utilises positive health messages through the Red Dust Healthy Living Program, Strong Young Womens Program, and Strong Young Mens Program. Australian based Red Dust is driven by a commitment to decreasing the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians in terms of health and education. Red Dust complements existing health promotion programs and assists schoolteachers, healthcare workers & community leaders to encourage healthy lifestyle decisions by: • Highlighting the dangers of drug, alcohol and other substance abuse • Setting examples of healthy eating, good nutrition and proper hydration • Encouraging participation in physical exercise and sport • Teaching and modelling good hygiene practices • Raising funds for infrastructure projects • Partnering with community leaders as well as health and education professionals to launch new programs and initiatives.

Utju, also known as Areyonga, is nestled between the deep red walls of the West MacDonnell Ranges in the Northern Territory. ⛰️ This community, though small with around 300 people, thrives on the strength of its culture and the Pitjantjatjara language. Last year, Utju proudly marked 50 years of bilingual education. A key milestone in preserving and celebrating its cultural identity and heritage through teaching in language. For over 15 years, Red Dust has been privileged to collaborate closely with the Utju community. Together, we have built a strong partnership based on shared commitments to education, health, and the well-being of youth. 💕 #reddustoz #utju #areyonga #bilingualeducation
