Seed funding for AUSNZ. We partner with founders who show abnormal potential.

About us

Rampersand is the first investor for Aus/NZ early-stage startup founders with abnormal potential. Since 2013/14, we have been active seed investors in Australia and New Zealand, writing the first cheques for companies like Goterra, JigSpace, and Expert360. We invest thoughtfully and with high conviction to help startups ramp through the early stages and beyond. We have invested AUD$100 million in 34 companies and returned millions to our investors. Across our portfolios, companies have increased in value by 800% on average and raised more than AUD$500 million from investors such as Lightspeed, SutterHill and Acrew. We’ve been involved in startups and tech for decades and have been actively investing for ten years. We’re a dedicated seed fund with $100m invested, a portfolio value of $1B , and 50 founders across 30 startups. We’ve returned millions to our investors. We embrace uncertainty, move fast, experiment and grow. While the industry has grown immensely since we started backing founders, our mission remains unchanged. We back the founders who back themselves to change the world.

Lessons learned from the Sydney Student Founder Mixer...🕰🔙 This month, we brought together 25 of the most promising student founders in NSW in one room. We were lucky to have Andrew Poesaste from Rampersand share growth tips and common pitfalls for ambitious young founders, inspired by his own experience building a social networking site in university 👨🎓. 1. 🏗️ Build Your Team, Build Your Future Your company is actually two products in one: your market offering AND your people. Here's the key learnings uncovered: • A small, energised team of 6-8 people who are all-in will outperform a much larger, half-committed group. •  Those early wins – first products, first customers, first victories – they're both thrilling and terrifying. •  Key takeaway: Embrace your dual role as Builder Recruiter. 2. 🌎 Chase Your Industry's Heartbeat Want to accelerate your growth? Go where the action is: • Whether it's Silicon Valley, New York, or London – find your industry's epicenter •  No need to relocate permanently – even a short-term Airbnb stay with your co-founders can be transformative •  You'll gain: Inspiration from talent density, direct customer access, and an upgraded "clock speed" that stays with you 3. 🗣 Founder Sales: Your Secret Weapon Early-stage founders, here's your edge: • People buy from people they trust and like! • Master the art of being half salesperson, half therapist • Listen deeply to customer problems and their perceived value • Build champions who'll help you navigate procurement and compete against lower-priced alternatives. At NextGen Ventures, we believe that the best outcomes occur when you grow a garden of tall poppies together🌷🌷🌷 Keep your eyes peeled for more catch ups to come. 👀 Thank you to Rampersand, Hatch, Andrew Poesaste, and Taryn Pieterse for allowing us to host this event at your office! 🫶 🌟#NextGen #StudentStartups #SydneyFounders

We are thrilled to see Senior Associate Abhishek Maran recognised in the Forbes Australia 30 under 30 list! 🙌

hunting for narrative violations @ rampersand | writing @ superfluid

I’m so stoked to be named in Forbes Australia's inaugural 30 Under 30 list! Since becoming a VC 3 years ago and launching Superfluid, I’ve endeavoured to serve founders as best as possible. There’s so much complexity and nuance in the world of VC, and founders have more than enough on their plate to deal with. Helping them cut through this has been incredibly fulfilling. The most rewarding part has been working closely with the incredible founders we’ve backed. Investing early and in a variety of verticals ranging from B2B SaaS startups to DeepTech companies has taught me that the best people and ideas aren’t always found where you expect them. I'm so privileged to have my work recognised through this award. I'm excited to leverage this platform to help Australian founders thrive on a global stage and to find new visionaries pushing the boundaries of what's truly possible in the world. But this is only the start of what I hope to accomplish. I have many more exciting initiatives planned in the coming months through Superfluid and Rampersand, so stay tuned! PS A HUGE THANK YOU TO Taryn Pieterse for nominating me!!
