About us

The Royal Automobile Club of Queensland (RACQ) is Queensland’s largest mutual organisation, meaning it exists entirely for the benefit of its members and the communities in which they live. Established in 1905 as an advocate for the rights of motorists, RACQ has evolved over 117 years into a multidimensional organisation providing services and products in a range of areas including motoring, insurance, banking and travel. Employing more than 2200 people state-wide across more than 50 locations, RACQ is committed to being a club for all Queenslanders. That commitment extends beyond the business lines of banking, insurance and assistance – the Club also supports the Queensland community through our iconic annual car enthusiast event, MotorFest, major sponsorships including the RACQ Choppers and Rescue Network and Ekka presented by RACQ, and grassroots sponsorships via our Local Giving program. Whether it’s delivering road safety and financial literacy education in classrooms, advocating for motorists and consumers, sponsoring community organisations or helping Queenslanders get back on their feet through the RACQ Foundation, the Club has an unwavering focus on staying true to its purpose – to make a positive difference to the lives of its members, now and into the future. It’s been a privilege for 25 #RACQFoundation volunteers to partner with the Wujal Wujal Aboriginal Shire Council to restore community facilities, following the devastation of Cyclone Jasper in December last year. The Foundation’s 25th Community Assistance Project involved re-establishing the nursery, repairing and refreshing buildings on the main street as well as the community and sports complex. We were proud to partner with Thread Together, the Cherbourg Ration Shed and My Pathway's local trainees for this project.

Our Group CEO David Carter sat down with Will Murray from the ABC's 7.30 report, continuing our strong advocacy for both levels of government to work together to #FixTheBruce. "The Bruce Highway is the backbone of Queensland - it carries enormous amounts of freight, tourists, livestock and agricultural produce, as well as people just getting to and from work and travelling around in their communities - but unfortunately it's a backbone that's broken." Mr. Carter said. 🎥 ABC 7.30 Report

Today we have renewed our calls for the next State Government to remove stamp duty on home insurance, or at a minimum, spend the collected tax on building disaster resilience. Queensland homeowners are paying 9% stamp duty on top of 10% GST on their insurance. RACQ General Manager Advocacy Joshua Cooney said stamp duty on home insurance is an inefficient tax that restricts Queenslanders from fully protecting their most valuable asset. “Almost 60% of people in RACQ’s State Election Priorities survey placed ‘Ditch the double tax on insurance’ in their top five priorities and it ranked as the third most important priority for those living in regional Queensland,” he said.

Our Education Specialist Janelle Baker doesn't spend her days at RACQ sitting behind a desk. You'll most likely find her in a classroom in North or Far North Queensland teaching students about the importance of road safety.    Last week, she wrapped up term 3 teaching at Endeavour Christian College and Bloomfield State School. "It was a joy to teach students from Prep to Year 12 last week and seeing the smiles on their faces as they're learning is so rewarding," she said. #PeopleOfRACQ

We turned purple this week for #WearItPurpleDay to acknowledge, embrace, and support LGBTQIA youth. 💜🌈 Our teams celebrated all week long with bake sales, morning teas, baking competitions, fundraising and of course, wearing purple to show our commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for everyone.

Our powerful #BloomsForBlokes campaign was back in Queen Street Mall this morning for Queensland Road Safety Week. In the past five years, more than triple the number of males were killed on Queensland roads compared to females. And the first-time most blokes receive flowers is at their funeral. We want that to change. Our team encouraged people to take a flower and gift it to a special man in their life while they're still alive. Remind them to drive safely and tell them how much they'd be missed if they were gone. Learn more here: bit.ly/3T7svx3 #BloomsForBlokes #QRSW

And that’s a wrap on the Mobile Lenders Personal Development Conference at the RACQ Mobility Centre! This year’s theme was “Green & Growing” and focused on everything from presentation skills, effective collaboration, marketing skills and more. We're delighted to have such a passionate lending team and can't wait to see them put these learnings into practice. #RACQBank
