Touchdown in Hobart 🛬 Our next-generation QantasLink Airbus A220 aircraft landed in Tasmania for the first time today, operating as QF1291 from Melbourne. It marks the first time the aircraft type has visited the Apple Isle, with the A220 also set to begin operating on the Melbourne-Launceston route from mid-November. Qantas and Jetstar have also reached a new long-term commercial agreement with Hobart Airport, which will see Qantas invest in a new lounge. Expected to open in 2027, the new Qantas Club will have almost double the current capacity and showcase Tasmanian produce. 📸: Steve Watts, Hobart Airport

"I started working for Qantas at Kai Tak Airport in 1988 when our Boeing 747-300s operated regularly – I was always in awe of the beauty of the Kangaroo tail against Hong Kong Harbour. Working at Qantas for the past 35 years, I’ve held many roles including Customer Service Officer, Airport Duty Controller, Lounge Manager and now Duty Airport Manager. I remember back in the 90s, we used to have to deliver the Terminal Area Forecast. When it was my first go, I was so nervous that when I went to speak, I completely mixed up my words! Luckily, we all had a laugh, and I was able deliver the message with more confidence for the next one! As a Duty Airport Manager, I’m responsible for everything above and below the wing, day-to-day airport operations and on time performance. Each day brings new challenges in a dynamic industry like aviation, but even after all this time, I still learn something new every day. The appreciation from our customers, and the teamwork from my colleagues energises me. I feel so proud to have held a number of roles at Qantas and I’ve learnt a lot from each chapter…travelling the world has been a bonus! Working for Qantas is like a big family, and it’s always made me feel a little bit Australian. I’ve even picked up my fair share of Aussie slang! Today we are celebrating 75 years of Qantas operations in Hong Kong 🇭🇰 On 26 June 1949, a Douglas DC-4 Skymaster propeller aircraft arrived at Kai Tak Airport, marking the first ever Qantas service to Hong Kong. The flight travelled between Sydney and Hong Kong via Darwin and Labuan, with a total journey time of over 20 hours. The history of Qantas in Hong Kong captures the remarkable development of the aviation industry, with services operated by DC4 Skymasters, Super Constellations, Lockheed Electras, Boeing 707s, 767s and 747s. Today, Qantas operates daily flights from Hong Kong to Sydney and Melbourne on the Airbus A330 aircraft.

Bon Voyage! 🇫🇷🥖✈️   We're excited to reveal our classic French-inspired menus, limited-edition pyjamas, and amenity kits as we prepare to launch direct services between Perth and Paris on July 12.   Customers travelling on the new flights will be treated to popular French classics curated by Qantas Creative Director of Food, Beverage and Service, Neil Perry.    Bouillabaisse of snapper and Skull Island prawns; pithivier of chicken and tarragon with onion puree; and chocolate mousse with caramel poached pears, almonds and chantilly cream; will be served up to celebrate the start of the Paris flights.   The limited-edition chic pyjamas were created by Australian designer Martin Grant, with the navy design displaying the journey between Australia and France as Qantas becomes the first ever airline to operate direct flights between the two nations.

Keeping our regional communities connected 🔗 Our turboprop aircraft might not get the same attention as some of our bigger aircraft but they actually carry more than 3.5 million people each year, which is far more than our fleet of Airbus A380s! We are investing in more Dash-8 Q400s, which will help keep regional Australia connected to our major cities. "My name is Jack, I'm a Captain and Senior Base Pilot Support on the Dash-8, and I'm a proud member of the LGBTQI community. I've been with Qantas since 2018 after starting as a First Officer, and my passion for aviation runs back to when I was 12 and flew on my first Qantas flight! I'm so incredibly proud to work for a company that has long supported its LGTBQI team members and the LGBTQI community. It’s so important that all Australians feel accepted and celebrated ‒ not only in their workplace, but also in the community. Having such a large and iconic Australian company such as Qantas support our community makes me really grateful. Earlier this year I got to march in the Mardi Gras parade with Qantas which was such an amazing experience and something I've wanted to do for a very long time. It was a bittersweet celebration this year but as we made our way up Oxford Street, I was reflecting on the 78ers and all the progress we have made since then as a community - it was so special. The LGBTQI community has come a very long way, however there is still a long way to go. I hope the LGBTQI community continues to strengthen and the many who still experience marginalisation and stigma have a better quality of life. Events like Mardi Gras are important because they bring public attention to our diverse community and help change negative perceptions people may have. I think the future is bright for us."
