At Oxfam we believe all lives are equal and no-one should live in poverty.

About us

At Oxfam we believe all lives are equal and no-one should live in poverty. We join forces with people who share this belief, to empower communities to build better lives for themselves. That’s why we are there on the ground, not only to save lives in times of crisis, but also to develop lasting solutions. Our work spans wide because there are many causes of poverty. That’s why we’re also in front of decision-makers, governments and corporations, and speak out on the big issues. Together we are tackling poverty by changing minds, systems and lives.

🚨 WATER WAR CRIMES IN #GAZA: Our latest report finds that Israel’s cutting of external water supplies, systematic destruction of water facilities and deliberate obstruction of aid have reduced the amount of water available in Gaza by 94%.    💧 People in Gaza survive on just 4.74 litres of water daily for drinking, hygiene, and cooking—less than a single toilet flush.   🚰 Israel has destroyed 100% of all wastewater treatment plants and 70 per cent of all sewage pumps.    ❗Israeli military attacks have damaged or destroyed five water and sanitation infrastructure sites every three days since the start of the war.    🔎 Read the full report, ‘How #Israel has weaponised water in its military campaign in Gaza,’: https://lnkd.in/efp6AzVm    Join us in calling for a full ceasefire and safe, unrestricted access for humanitarian aid in Gaza: https://lnkd.in/g6aKDEBm

🚀 Exciting News! We are so proud to introduce our latest report, "Cashing in on Profits". Despite global challenges like Covid-19 and the Ukraine war from 2021-2023, Australia's top 500 corporations pocketed an extra $98 billion in 'crisis profits'. 📈💰 Major sectors such as mining, banking and supermarkets saw unprecedented gains. Companies like NAB, BHP, Woolworths Supermarkets and Hancock Prospecting led the pack, while many Australians faced rising living costs amid pandemic and inflation woes. Oxfam urges the Australian Government to enforce a 'crisis profits tax' on excessive corporate gains, channeling funds towards tackling inequality both at home and abroad. Check out Chef David's breakdown below and join us by signing our petition to Make Tax Fair!🖋️ https://lnkd.in/gFhf29Af

Did you know? People with disabilities make up an estimated 20% of the poorest citizens in the Indo-Pacific region. Australia must commit to being a champion of disability equity and rights in all its international engagements. 🌏🤝 We urgently need to ensure Australia’s future as a leader in this area by making the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s new International Disability Equity and Rights Strategy ambitious, accountable, and well-resourced. As a prosperous nation, we can and MUST do more to support the millions of people living with disabilities in our region. It’s time to increase funding from within our existing aid budget to make a real difference. 💪💬 Sign the petition: https://lnkd.in/gVz2RA-8 #DisabilityRights #EquityForAll #Australia #InclusiveFuture #InternationalAid DFAT Senator Penny Wong Pat Conroy CBM Australia Lyn Morgain
