It’s been a fast-paced week at the ITS Australia Summit! Yesterday, NEC hosted a panel discussion and breakfast to launch our latest whitepaper on AI solutions in transport. Almost three-quarters of Australians say they know very little about how facial recognition technology works, a new report by researchers at Monash University and the The Australian National University has revealed. Low levels of public awareness and understanding generally correlate with a degree of distrust in the technology, however, in real-life applications, it has been shown that when consumers truly understand the value exchange clearly, there is less hesitancy to share biometric data. Take the touchless travel technology used at Frankfurt International Airport for Star Alliance, powered by NEC, which enables travelers to use their secure Digital ID to enjoy a safe, contactless experience throughout the airport from curb to gate using facial recognition technology.
