NEC Australia joined forces with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to sponsor Intermedium’s 2024-25 NSW ICT and Digital Budget breakfast briefing in Sydney earlier this month. It was a compelling and engaging event, with valuable insights from the latest Intermedium’s latest Digital Government Readiness and Maturity Indicator (DGRMI) report and a panel discussion on digital leadership and transformation across NSW and beyond. 🌟 NSW continues to lead the way in digital government, outscoring all the other government jurisdictions across Australia and New Zealand by achieving the highest combined score in the DGRMI report, with an impressive 18.7 out of 20. NSW’s leadership in digital government and transformation is a testament to its decade-long focus on digital and customer service, which has laid a strong foundation of policies, governance, and innovative platforms. From pioneering AI frameworks to advancing digital inclusiveness for all citizens, NSW sets a gold standard for digital government. 🙌 NSW’s previous Minister for Customer Service and Digital Government, the Hon. Victor Dominello, has been instrumental in shaping NSW’s digital future and continues to be a strong champion of digital services. This work continues under the dedicated stewardship of the current minister, the Hon. Jihad Dib, who has identified inclusion and connectivity as key priorities for the NSW government. NEC Australia is committed to supporting governments in their digital transformation journeys, enhancing citizen experiences, and fostering innovation. Together, we are orchestrating a brighter, more connected future. 👉 Discover more about NSW’s digital leadership and other key insights from the report by downloading the full DGRMI report here: https://lnkd.in/gpcFjPWW Thank you to the panelists and participants in the NSW event - Laura Christie PSM, Government Chief Digital and Information Officer and Deputy Secretary for Digital.NSW; Intermedium’s principal analyst, Judy Hurditch; Karen K., Acting Chief Digital Officer for Revenue NSW; Suzy Mann, Chief Technology Officer & Executive Director for the Technology & Communication Services Command for the NSW Police Force; Mike A. It’s been a fast-paced week at the ITS Australia Summit! Yesterday, NEC hosted a panel discussion and breakfast to launch our latest whitepaper on AI solutions in transport. The panel, featuring industry experts, Mark Messenger, Head of Smart Transport for Australia and New Zealand at NEC, Chris Nielsen, Senior Account Executive for Transport at Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Professor Vinayak Dixit, Professor of Transport Engineering at UNSW, unpacked the transformative potential – and potential challenges – of AI in the transport sector. 💡 Key takeaways from the discussion: • Building Trust: AI and emerging technologies will transform transport, but trust is crucial. 🤝 • Mark Messenger: “The main challenge for governments in adopting AI revolves around trust—trust in the government's intentions and in the technology itself.” • Gradual Adoption: Introducing AI gradually ensures its benefits are proven before widescale adoption. 📈 • Transparency: Designing AI with transparent, explainable decision-making processes is key. We must avoid 'black box' systems. 🔍 • Vinayak Dixit: “Success isn't just about being correct 99% of the time; it's about being able to explain the decision-making process 99% of the time, ensuring transparency and trust." 📢 We also launched a new whitepaper at the event: “Evolving AI Solutions in Transport and Infrastructure Management.” Download it here: https://lnkd.in/dpxa4BRU #TransportInnovation #SmartTransport #ITS2024 #AIinTransport #NEC #InfrastructureManagement #TechnologyTrends Tithi Roy Simon R. Almost three-quarters of Australians say they know very little about how facial recognition technology works, a new report by researchers at Monash University and the The Australian National University has revealed. Low levels of public awareness and understanding generally correlate with a degree of distrust in the technology, however, in real-life applications, it has been shown that when consumers truly understand the value exchange clearly, there is less hesitancy to share biometric data. Take the touchless travel technology used at Frankfurt International Airport for Star Alliance, powered by NEC, which enables travelers to use their secure Digital ID to enjoy a safe, contactless experience throughout the airport from curb to gate using facial recognition technology. 🏉We were delighted to share our recent Essendon Football Club match day sponsorship with our wonderful partner, Invictus Australia and their incredible community of veterans and family members. Everyone had a ball (pun intended 😉), with coin toss and ball delivery rights given to two incredible veterans, Brett and Rye, and lots of other activities for everyone to get involved with including forming the guard of honour for the Essendon team! ❤️🖤 💛🖤 NEC Australia is a proud Premier Partner of Invictus Australia, a not-for-profit organisation that delivers sport and recreational programs and services to improve the health and wellbeing of military veterans and their families, both on an international stage at events such as the Invictus Games and via grassroots programs across the country.

Thanks to one of our Premier Partners NEC Australia, a group of veterans and family members had a once in a lifetime experience at the recent Essendon Football Club vs Adelaide Football Club AFL match held at Marvel Stadium. As well as this group forming the guard of honour which Essendon ran through, Brett Lewis (Warrior Games 2024 alumnus) and Rye Shawcroft (Warrior Games 2019 and Invictus Games 2018 alumnus) were given the opportunity to complete the coin toss and ball delivery pre match. Special thank you to NEC Australia for sharing this match day sponsorship with us to make this opportunity possible, and to our other partners for helping us expand this opportunity to the wider defence community. IPAR, another one of our Premier Partners, played a crucial role in connecting Veteran Engagement Manager Christopher Burson with a defence family of four who attended the event. Soldier On Australia put us in touch with a veteran staff member who was excited about this opportunity. Additionally, RSL Victoria members, who had previously participated in a community event, came together for this special occasion. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gXG2i49g

As organisations embark on digital transformation journeys to find efficiencies and value, they often leave behind technical debt, costing hundreds of thousands of dollars - funds that could go straight to the bottom line or be reinvested in priority areas. Email archive represents one such low-value, high-return tech debt that can be effortlessly migrated with the help of NEC. We provide a scalable and tailored fully managed migration service to move your on-premises legacy mailbox archive and journal data to the cloud, utilising advanced AI-powered tools, with no hidden fees.
