We are delighted to welcome CAMFED - Campaign for Female Education as our newest Navitas Education Trust (NET) partner for FY25! For the past 10 years, the NET has provided support to not-for-profit organisations performing incredible work bringing education to communities around the world. Each year, we select a new round of partners to support new and innovative education projects. For FY25, we are delighted to partner once again with CAMFED – Campaign for Female Education, supporting their innovative and far-reaching Learner Guide Program in regional areas of Zambia. The Learner Guide Program is CAMFED’s flagship program, and is central to scaling the impact of girls’ education and women’s leadership across Africa. It sees young women in the CAMFED Association—once themselves supported by CAMFED—return to their local school as mentors and role models. As proud pioneers of the pathway model of education 30 years ago, we were excited to come on board as the exclusive sponsor of the International Education Association of Australia (IEAA) Pathways Forum in Sydney. The IEAA pathways network, co-convened by our Academic Director at La Trobe College Australia, Dom Harden, provides an excellent opportunity for providers to share experiences and learnings, and make valuable contributions to policy discussions impacting international education.   Our Executive General Manager, Leigh Pointon, gave a welcome address and joined an important panel session on Balancing Sustainability, Opportunities and the Student Experience.   “Pathway programs often provide the foundations for learning while, at the same time, supporting our students to create valuable connections to community, to foster friendships and to overcome barriers to settling successfully into a new way of life, far from home.   “We are now understanding the significant impact that COVID-19 has had on academic attainment worldwide, and the increasingly important role that pathway programs will play in supporting student success.” Malcolm Baigent

This week Australia recognises #NationalNAIDOCWeek with the 2024 theme Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud. This year's theme celebrates the strength, resilience, and joy in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. NAIDOC Week, like every week of the year, is a time for all Australians to learn more about First Nations cultures and histories, and to participate in actions of solidarity and celebration.    You can visit the NAIDOC website to learn more about the history of NAIDOC Week and how to participate in events near you: https://lnkd.in/dexeVKVM

Earlier this year, two Navitas Skilled Futures teachers, Sheera Lee and Shelley Barons, had the opportunity to visit a Navitas Education Trust-supported school with longstanding NET partner, Classroom of Hope, in Lombok, Indonesia. Classroom of Hope builds schools in rural parts of developing countries using sustainable bricks made from recycled plastics. Over ten years of partnership, NET funding has helped Classroom of Hope to build 13 schools in regional areas around the world. On their trip, Sheera and Shelley had the chance to attend the opening ceremony for two brand new classrooms, swap knowledge with the teaching community, and experience first-hand the incredible impact of our NET partners. Shelley and Sheera shared their reflections from the trip – rainforest hikes, an incredible community, and the chance to meet the teams behind it all. Read their stories: https://lnkd.in/g32PvZgD
