MPA Skills / Skill Hire trainers Stephen Delaney and Aiden McElvaney had a great day out at Choice Building Products learning about the new coatings available in Liquid Metals and Microestil Microcement. This will carry through to the training of apprentices and help encourage the artisan aspects of the trade going forward. It is heartening to realise the opportunities available to the WA painting & decorating industry through MP&DA’s partnership with our dedicated partners. If any MP&DA members are interested in upcoming workshops in these fantastic products, contact Mark at [email protected] or on 0448 950 58.

MPA Skills would like to raise awareness for mesothelioma on mesothelioma awareness day! Mesothelioma primarily affects the lining of the lungs and is often diagnosed years after exposure to asbestos, a material once widely used in construction and manufacturing. As part of our training, we have a course unit on asbestos awareness in which apprentices are informed about these risks and the importance of safety measures to protect their health on the job.   Share this post, educate others about the dangers of asbestos, and support organisations fighting for mesothelioma research and patient care.   #MesotheliomaAwareness #AsbestosAwareness #CancerAwareness #SupportSurvivors

Year 9 students from Kiara College and LESMURDIE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL are currently in their second day of our three-day painting and plumbing Try-a-Trade program. Funded by the Construction Training Fund, the program gives students hands-on experience in practical tasks such as worksite preparation and tool use, while placing a strong emphasis on work health and safety. They work in teams, gaining valuable insights into real-world construction scenarios that could spark their interest in potentially pursuing pre-apprenticeships in Years 11 and 12.
