  • For many health professionals in private practice, the demands of the job can lead to overbooking appointments, spending excessive time on administrative tasks and working outside of your normal hours. This can all have an impact on your wellbeing. Here are some strategies to considering implementing to help improve your wellbeing: 💙Prioritise Self-Care: Consider scheduling regular mini breaks throughout the day to rest and recharge. This can be as simple as having a glass of water or taking a few deep breathes. Can you adjust your schedule to make time for meals and brief self-care actions? 💙Set Boundaries: Think about establishing clear work hours and try to stick to them. While it can be challenging, aiming for an imperfect approach is a good start. Communicating your boundaries to colleagues and patients can help manage expectations. 💙Delegate Tasks: It might be beneficial to utilise support staff for administrative duties and delegate tasks where possible. Considering additional support services during particularly busy periods could also be worth considering (e.g. cleaning, meals, etc.) 💙Streamline Administrative Work: Using efficient administrative tools and software can help reduce the time spent on paperwork. Organising and prioritising tasks might make your workload more manageable. 💙Practice Time Management: Reflect on your time management during consultations. Are your expectations realistic? If not, setting agendas with patients could help navigate time limitations. Trying to avoid overbooking by maintaining a realistic schedule can also be useful. 💙Engage in Reflective Practice: Regularly assessing your workload and identifying areas for improvement, such as case load, areas of interest, and frequency of holidays, can be valuable. 💙Seek Support: Reaching out to colleagues, mentors, or professional support services when feeling overwhelmed can be helpful. Professional counselling or coaching might also be considered to manage stress and develop coping strategies.

  • PRODUCTIVITY MYTHS 💙 Set big goals for yourself. Having big-picture goals is great, but it's important to set smaller, consistent goals for yourself that will help you get there. 💙 Multitasking is bad. Multitasking can stunt your productivity, if you are trying to complete two incompatible tasks together. However, there can be positive ways of multitasking if you pair two complementary tasks together, like listening to a podcast while working out. 💙 Long hours = Productivity Spending more time on a task does not necessarily mean you are being productive. As a matter of fact, you can complete quality work in shorter periods of time, depending on your focus and stress levels.

  • 🍋 When life gives you lemons, make lemon cake! At MINDCHECK Health Professionals, we recently harvested fresh lemons from our very own lemon tree and turned them into a delicious lemon cake for the team. It was a wonderful reminder of the importance of small moments of joy and connection in the workplace. Just like our lemon tree, nurturing a positive and supportive work environment can lead to fruitful results. For healthcare professionals, finding ways to cultivate wellbeing and balance in your work and personal life is crucial. Whether it’s enjoying a slice of cake with colleagues, taking a moment to appreciate nature, or simply sharing a smile, these small acts contribute to a healthier and happier workplace. Remember, your wellbeing is vital. Take time to savor the sweet moments and support each other. Together, we can create a thriving and resilient healthcare community. #WorkplaceWellbeing #DoctorWellbeing #HealthProfessionals #Wellbeing #SelfCare #MindcheckHealthProfessionals

  • Embracing Failure with a Growth Mindset Failure is often seen as something to avoid, bringing up unpleasant emotions like embarrassment and disappointment. However, adopting a growth mindset can transform how we perceive and respond to failure. 💙 Embracing a Growth Mindset: Be willing to fail and view it as a learning opportunity. Reflect on your experiences, ask what you learned, and consider how you can grow from them. This approach helps you thrive and opens up future opportunities. 💙 Viewing Failure as Temporary: Recognize that failures are temporary setbacks and a normal part of life. Embrace them, acknowledge your effort, and remember that even successful people experienced failure before succeeding. 💙 Separating Yourself from Failures: Distinguish your identity from your actions. Use positive language to describe your experiences, helping you move forward and try again. Learning to fail better with a growth mindset softens the blow when failure occurs, opening up opportunities to try again or change course. Acknowledge that failure is about trying and growing, and step out of your comfort zone to embark on greater challenges. Nurture your growth mindset and consider what steps you can take the next time something doesn’t work out as planned. #HealthProfessionals #DoctorWellbeing
