Making a difference and fulfilling the furnishing textile, wall covering and acoustic needs of our clients since 1980.
About us
Materialised has brought innovative, high performance furnishing textiles, wall covering, acoustics and art to the Australasian contract interior design industry since 1980. Our speciality is *whole room solutions* with products specifically designed for high demand environments such as healthcare, hospitality, hotel, aged care, hospital, wellness, office, education and commercial industries. Flame retardancy, high abrasion resistance and acoustic absorption are key. Our product range enables the complete furnishing requirement… Block-out drapery, sheers, waterproof upholstery, faux leather, framed art, luxury bedspreads, acoustic panelling and wall covering of all kinds. Beyond innovative product, we act as a conduit to our clients for information on trends and changes in regulations affecting our industry, garnered from our decades of strong relationship with industry leaders worldwide. Manufacturing and warehousing takes place in the Southern Sydney suburb of Blakehurst. Dye sublimation printing allows us to offer custom design solutions without compromising on quality or performance. What some would call showrooms, we describe as Design Studios. These are located in the major centres across Australia and New Zealand, Adelaide, Auckland, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. A socially responsible company, we are committed to *making a difference* in our community and our industry. This dedication is evidenced by our support of local charities, our green policy and ‘Fabrics for the Real World’ training program, which is highly regarded by universities and design schools. Let's see what could Materialise, together!

Always a pleasure to work with the inspiringly creative COOOP.Co team, and the 6HEAD Perth project certainly tested our print capabilities... But we do love a challenge! A key element of the design was the custom artwork which demanded a carefully managed double-sided printing process required for this installation of 38 panels. So proud of our team and the brainstorming it took to achieve the desired outcome. A proud descendant of the Wiradjuri Ngiyampaa and Barkindji nations in New South Wales, Lizzy Stageman's contemporary Aboriginal designs beautifully blend life experiences and stories, demonstrating remarkable artistic skill. “We took care to maintain the original colourways across all of Lizzy’s designs,” explains our Head of Design, “Her palette was already fresh and vibrant, so we carried the cool blues and greens along with the warm pinks and oranges throughout the additional colourways, to tie them all together. Historically these colours work well for commercial spaces.” See more of Lizzy's collection here: https://buff.ly/4c3YK8v #materialised #indigenousdesign #lizzystageman #naidocweek2024

“We should never be afraid to put our true feelings on canvas. Artists are the keepers of history. We are all storytellers.” Our collaboration with Robyn Caughlan sees four of her artworks re-imagined in 21 colourways through high-performance textiles and wall covering. Walmajarri Aboriginal artist, Jimmy Pike (1940-2002) was born east of Japingka, in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Taking flora and fauna inspiration unique to his Australian desert life, he utilised whatever medium he needed to express his stories in his art, and not necessarily traditional ones. Having been sent photos and scans of Jimmy’s artwork, our Materialised designers translated his art into repeatable prints for contemporary textile and wall coverings.
