Another container with 700 devices has arrived in Papua New Guinea. With this shipment, we will achieve the milestone of 300 computer labs installed in PNG since 2017. These devices will be distributed across Chimbu, Southern Highlands, and Jiwaka. Access to quality education through improved digital infrastructure will help to cultivate a generation of digitally capable and empowered future leaders of PNG. In the weeks ahead, we will be unveiling our new Digital Skills Training Program and Digital Skills Curriculum to improve teaching and learning outcomes in our digital classrooms and beyond.

Digitising a Million Dreams by 2027
About us
Our Story The LiteHaus journey began with one act of generosity in September 2017 in the Western Highlands of Papua New Guinea. Our young Founder & Chairman, Jack Growden, aged 20, was inspired by the generosity of the local people and donated his personal laptop to the local primary school. He promised to return with 11 more – a pledge which found its way into the national media. In March 2018, he fulfilled this promise in front of 400 locals, establishing the first computer lab in a Papua New Guinean primary school. Similar success followed, and by the end of the year, LiteHaus International had grown to removing barriers to education in Uganda and Pakistan. Our Mission LiteHaus International aims to globally contribute to the removal of obstacles encountered in the pursuit of quality education, ultimately enabling individuals to reach their full potential. We want to give children across the world the tools to learn, the tools to dream and place opportunities at their fingertips. In the digital age, children in developing countries such as Papua New Guinea, Uganda and Pakistan face being left behind without the technological skills required to do justice to their talents. LiteHaus International aims to remove the obstacles of digital illiteracy and make quality and relevant education accessible to all young people. Make a donation today to our not-for-profit charity, registered with the ACNC. Our Work We provide 12 laptops and a projector to remote primary schools in Papua New Guinea to promote digital learning. Our own bilingual Basic Computer Skills Guide is also provided to assist teachers with hosting their ICT classes. We prioritise remote communities where access to technology is minimal. Many students walk three rainy hours barefoot to get to school each day. In Uganda and Pakistan, we enhance the learning journeys of 143 impoverished children by providing them the critical resources for education – i.e. stationery, books, and whiteboards.

Last week, we returned to Wujal Wujal to spend time with the community and provide e-Safety training before distributing laptops to the students. The smiles on their faces say it all! e-Safety is a crucial part of our programs, ensuring that students can use their new devices safely and effectively. This initiative is part of the Digital Professional Workforce Action Plan program from Queensland Government. Thank you to the Wujal Wujal Aboriginal Shire Council, Queensland Government, and nbn® Australia for such a great day!

Last week, our team travelled to Cooktown to deliver 210 laptops to the First Nations communities of Wujal Wujal and Hope Vale. Severely affected by flooding after Cyclone Jasper, Wujal Wujal has recently returned after months of relocation. This rollout comes under our partnership with Queensland Government to provide 5,000 students across the state with their own laptop, a Digital Professional Workforce Action Plan initiative. We will soon return to these communities to deliver e-safety training to the beneficiaries.

AECOM has donated 171 retired laptops to our Digital Infrastructure Program in the Philippines. These will be distributed to 22 primary and secondary schools in Albay and Sorsogon, providing digital learning opportunities for thousands of students. We are grateful for AECOM’s support and call on other corporates in the Philippines to donate their end-of-life devices to help us bridge the digital divide in the country. #DigitalLearning #EducationForAll #BridgingTheGap #PhilippinesEducation #CorporateResponsibility

Over the past twelve months, we have delivered digital skills training for four sub-national divisions of education through the PNG Partnerships for Improving Education (PIE) program, supported by the Australian Government. We have worked with 70 staff from Provincial Divisions of Education (PDoE) for Sandaun, Central and Enga Province, and the Bougainville Department of Education (BDoE) to strengthen competencies in the Microsoft Office suite and to improve e-safety awareness. In addition to training, each PDoE/BDoE received a set of refurbished laptops to enhance digital capacity and enable the important work of education service delivery.

In the past 2 weeks, we have installed 30 new digital classrooms in primary schools across Eastern Highlands, bringing our total to 269 labs across 15 provinces. Each computer lab is equipped with Niunet e-library, offering over 6.3 million articles at students' fingertips. These labs will not only impact students but also bring broader digital capability and opportunities to communities. We are continuing our impact with 25 more installations in Chimbu, Jiwaka, and Western Highlands this May.

What does your organisation do with its end-of-life devices? Rob Birnie, our Australian Programs Lead, and Luke Wakeham, our Warehouse & Logistics Lead, are pictured here with 400 repurposed devices from Townsville Catholic Education Office bound for digitally-excluded students from refugee migrant backgrounds through our partnership with SSI. This initiative has been made possible with funding by St.George Foundation and is part of our broader digital inclusion work across Australia.
