INSOLVENCY OUTLOOK | INSOL International* recently announced the 2023-2024 graduates of its Global Insolvency Practice Course, an advanced educational qualification focusing on international restructuring and insolvency. Graduating with honours in the top three of his cohort was Lander & Rogers partner Jonathon Turner. As a new INSOL Fellow, Jonathon says that navigating financial distress in the current economic climate and integrated global economy requires a strong understanding of international restructuring and insolvency regimes and regulations. "Both domestically and internationally, many businesses continue to face heightened financial pressure due to high interest rates, supply chain disruption, labour shortages and high costs of materials. This is driving growth in activity in the restructuring and insolvency arena. While there is currently significant distress in the economic system, there are also opportunities for businesses to restructure with a view to achieving long-term sustainability and profitability," he says. "Increasingly, these engagements contain cross-border elements that require knowledge of international insolvency norms, rules and provisions. The international regime is evolving as cross-border insolvency cases rise, and with many jurisdictions adopting and/or modernising their rescue regimes and cross-border insolvency procedures. This evolution of the international system presents new challenges to the turnaround and insolvency profession." Jonathon, who is dual qualified and has represented clients in superior courts in Australia, England and Wales, and the Cayman Islands, adds: "As practitioners, it's important that we have a deep knowledge of the transnational and international aspects of legal and financial problems of businesses in distress." For more information about Lander & Rogers' insolvency and restructuring practice, visit: https://lnkd.in/gyeAffDe *INSOL International is the leading worldwide federation of national associations of accountants and lawyers who specialise in restructuring and insolvency. The Global Insolvency Practice Course is INSOL's advanced educational qualification focusing on international insolvency, with successful graduates recognised as INSOL Fellows.
