Through the players community initiative, Ladder, young people are mentored and provided with the support they need to achieve their goals. We exist to make young people’s lives better. Ladder is an independent non-profit organisation that was established by AFL players in 2007 who recognised the power of sport, and the AFL industry, as being a powerful vehicle for social change. Over a decade on and players continue to be at the heart of the organisation, supporting as staff, board members, advocates, volunteers and mentors. Ladder deliver tailored development and mentoring programs to young people across Australia. Our programs support young people aged 16 to 25 to improve in key domains including self-efficacy, community connection, health and wellbeing, independent living skills and education, employment and training.

Ladder participants connected with GWS GIANTS AFLW team during a memorable day out at ENGIE stadium, home of our community partners the GWS GIANTS. This event fostered a sense of belonging and connection while celebrating the importance of community—values perfectly embodied by both the GIANTS and Ladder. A huge thanks to Alicia Eva, one of Ladder’s Board Members, for facilitating this event and to the GIANTS AFLW team for making the day memorable for all. Read more at https://lnkd.in/gdMB7KHB

We recently celebrated the graduation of our third Surviving Adolescence parenting program. It’s been amazing to see parents grow and thrive throughout this program. They’ve used the tools we provided to connect with their teens, and it's heartwarming to hear about the positive changes in their relationships and family life. We recently celebrated the graduation of another successful Ladder program in the Latrobe Valley. Of our graduates; three are now working part-time, three are being supported to secure employment, one has returned back to school and two are still exploring their options and have set self-identified goals. We are so proud of them all and look forward to continuing to support them through our Ladder Alumni program.
