From actionable insights to invaluable networking, the roadshows were packed with inspiration and impactful moments. It was great to have Wayne Gerard join us on the Transparent VC Podcast to chat about his journey, the life of a founder, his work as a former Queensland Chief Entrepreneur, and his approach to investing at Prtnr. I'm not sure there is an innovation-ecosystem role that Wayne hasn't performed at some point, and it's great to see his passion for helping founders expand and transition to investment following his recent exit. Wayne and I first met 10 years ago, when we were both part of the Startup Working Group that developed many of the initiatives that later became Advance Queensland and The Precinct. Working with talented and driven founders solving climate change makes everyday at Prtnr inspiring. Yesterday we had a great meeting with Shan V. the CEO and Founder of Climate and Social Impact SaaS company Klean - Sustainability for Retail We've been working with Shan on his go to market plans and on his climate and impact partnerships. Klean provides three modules, the one we've been working on recently is called Impact@Checkout. It allows a consumer to support a climate project or social impact cause that aligns with their values as part of their shopping experience, at checkout the retailer donates an amount on behalf of the customer to help offset the purchase. Klean enables retailers to align their brand with their customers by partnering with organisations acting on climate change and delivering social impact projects. We're working with Shan and the team at Klean to form more partnerships with reputable and verified climate projects and local social impact causes. Making it easy for these organisations to register on Klean's website and creating shared marketing campaigns to promote new partners and the causes they're supporting. Giving retailers opportunities to partner with and promote the causes they care about is helping them build strong brands with their customers. Interestingly the data is showing that consumers are spending more each order when they have an option to support a climate or impact project they care about. We see applications for Impact@Checkout for any organisation that cares about environmental and social impact and wants to build a great brand with their customers on their ecommerce platform. This includes traditional retailers, power and water utilities, councils, insurance companies, health care providers and many more. This is a brands AOV results month-on-month since partnering in September ‘23 who saw an immediate 22% uplift in their baseline AOV. Giving them a overall 10x ROI on their impact & sustainability initiatives. It proves that their customers are consistently purchasing more every quarter when they select where the brands impact goes, prior to purchasing. Versus their customers who do not engage with their impact. By partnering with Klean - Sustainability for Retail and promoting their sustainability throughout their online store, engagement & awareness grew and reached 37% AOV verses their baseline in April 24. I love seeing this as more and more customers are supporting them, accelerating revenue and their impact to their partners - win win! 🌏🧡

What I’ve always wanted to know and see proof of is ‘do sales increase when customers get to select where a brands impact goes?’ We’ve all seen the studies and claims telling us that consumers would be willing to spend more if a brand supports social & environmental initiatives. But is that intention reflected at the checkout? The reason I’m so passionate about this is because if Klean - Sustainability for Retail can prove our tech increases revenue for brands, this would also accelerate positive outcomes for our community & planet. That’s why I’m stoked to see these results from our partner brands using impact@checkout. AOV increases up to 67% when a customer selects an impact project, versus no project selected. There is still more we can learn & improve on, such as it’s correlation with a brands average UPT and explore other patterns we are seeing.
