Our co-hosted event with the Victorian Medtech Skills and Devices Hub (VMH) yesterday featured an insightful medtech fireside chat, followed by networking with the medtech/biotech community 🥂 The event started with introductions from Andrea O'Connor, Co-Director of VMH, and Camille Shanahan, General Manager of Jumar. The evening continued with an engaging fireside chat delving into Cochlear's journey. Here are some key points: 🤝 Partnering with researcher clinicians and academic hospitals was crucial to Cochlear’s early adoption ⚙ Feedback from existing recipients is integrated into the development of new products and features 💡 For startups looking to scale up, an effective strategy would be to develop a product with an existing reimbursement code A massive thank you to Robert Gay for sharing his insights into Cochlear's success story, and to Lauren Ayton for skilfully moderating the discussion 🙌 We also want to thank everyone who joined us! Welcome to Jumar Bioincubator, Australia's newest biotech incubator! We are building a world-class hub for innovation translation, research commercialisation and talent development. We’re here to support the next generation of biotech startups, entrepreneurs, and scientists, as they strive to bring innovative health solutions to market. Jumar was established by three of Victoria’s most distinguished entities – CSL, WEHI and the University of Melbourne, with backing from innovation investor Breakthrough Victoria, and operated by Cicada Innovations. Our mission is to connect early-stage biotech ventures with the support they need to progress discoveries towards real-world treatments and therapies, build a critical mass of scientists with the knowledge and confidence to run successful biomedical ventures - and the power to influence and impact global health outcomes.
