We’re celebrating NAIDOC Week across our Group from 7 – 14 July, recognising the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. At our Group, we recognise the 2024 NAIDOC Week theme of ‘Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud.’, which highlights fire as a symbol of connection to Country, to each other, and to the rich tapestry of traditions that define Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Our commitment to Reconciliation is ongoing, we don’t just recognise and celebrate First Nations Peoples during NAIDOC Week. Since the Group’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Working Group was established, we have launched our Reflect RAP, become a member of Supply Nation, stood up an Indigenous Employee Network, integrated our RAP artwork on our Group fleet vehicles, and held various celebrations of National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week. And we’re working towards our Group’s new Innovate RAP as we explore further how we can support local Indigenous communities with education, health, employment and commercial initiatives while also listening to the stories and experiences of our Indigenous team members, customers, and communities. We’re at the 2024 ALGA National General Assembly exhibition in Canberra this week with Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG) and ATCO Australia! Stop by and say hello 👋 Delivered by the Australian Local Government Association, the annual event provides an opportunity for local governments to engage with the Federal Government to develop national policy, and to influence the future direction of councils and communities alike. We’re pleased to have the opportunity to raise awareness of our important role in delivering the gas and electricity Australian households and businesses need each day, as well as highlight how we’re investing in renewable gas projects which we think can play a leading role in our future energy mix.

Jemena Gas Networks’ 2025 Plan has now been submitted to the Australian Energy Regulator (AER). If you don’t know us, we’re your local gas network. We transport the gas you use every day, and we’ve been on a journey with our customers that has spanned more than 18 months, 206 hours' worth of engagement, and just under 100 separate engagement events. Our 2025 Plan details our pricing and services for the 2025-30 period and reflects what our customers have told us is important to them. It includes 10 initiatives, shaped by our customers, for us to action: 🔵 Invest in renewable gas connections 🟢 Speed up the recovery of $300m in assets 🔵 Take a targeted approach to gas mains replacement 🟢 Invest in technology (Picarro cars) to detect gas leaks 🔵 Increase the user pays portion of new connections 🟢 Enhance our vulnerable customer program 🔵 Replace 8,000 aging, defective and hard-to-reach meters with new digital meters 🟢 Retain a user pays approach to permanent disconnections 🔵 Implement changes to our tariff structures 🟢 Implement a hybrid form of price control We believe our 2025 Plan balances the needs of our customers today with future generations, mainly through upfront actions and investment that is aimed at supporting a fair and equitable energy transition. The AER will now review and assess our plan. To find out more visit https://lnkd.in/gHDuMMhh #Energy #consultation #renewablegas #gascustomers #customers #AER

A big congratulations to our Process Safety Engineer Sheila Wujanto-Hawe who was nominated for an ‘Excellence in Energy’ Award at the Women in Industry Awards which took place this month! Sheila, pictured here with her manager Jason who nominated her for the award, said she was proud to celebrate with all the amazing women and men in the industry. “I have left this experience feeling inspired and more committed to continue to champion diversity, drive positive change, and advance excellence in the energy sector and beyond,” she said. Jason said Sheila is a role model for women in engineering, starting her career and thriving in a time when the industry was predominantly male-dominated. “Sheila is an integral part of our operations at Jemena, pioneering a significant culture change in process safety, and her dedication and leadership have been truly inspirational to the entire team,” he said. The Women in Industry Awards showcase the incredible talents of women in traditionally male-dominated sectors like mining, manufacturing, infrastructure and engineering. Let's celebrate and support women doing great things in industry- well done to all the nominees and winners across all the categories in the 2024 Awards 👏 #WomenInIndustryAwards #DiversityandInclusion #WomeninSTEM #IndustryExcellence

⭐ Understanding the priorities of Jemena’s Local Council members ⭐ Local Councils play a significant role in the communities we serve in north-west Melbourne. As part of the energy transition it’s important that we partner with Local Councils to understand community needs and how best to support decarbonisation and electrification. As we shape our electricity distribution pricing proposal for the 2026-31 period, their views and opinions will help us in writing a plan that ensures all voices have been heard. In May, more than twenty Local Council representatives from across Jemena’s network came together to explore their unique challenges and propose solutions that can be included in our proposal. Key priorities discussed included: • network reliability, resilience and the financial and operational impacts of network disruptions • exploring potential future options when it comes to public lighting • pricing and tariff structures and how they affect forecasting • customer education and supporting customers experiencing vulnerability. A range of experts across public lighting, emergency management, capital works and sustainability from across LGA’s such as Maribyrnong City Council, Banyule City Council, Hobsons Bay City Council, Hume City Council and Merri-bek City Council came together to provide Jemena with key advice on how we can prepare for a more sustainable energy future. Matthew Serpell, Project Director said: “The Local Council’s in our network distribution area play an important role and are often called first by our residential customers if there is a fault, for example a streetlight that has gone out, in our network.” “We need to have an ongoing dialogue with them as their challenges and priorities are similar to those of other customers such as network reliability, pricing and tariffs but also unique such as public lighting.” Local Councils play a pivotal role in local communities and their views are key to developing Jemena Electricity Networks 2026-31 Draft Plan. Our latest ‘People in Energy’ profile features our Connections Subject Matter Expert Zoe, who is here to help our customers tackling a home renovation 🔨🏡 Home renovation projects continue to be popular across our residential gas network area in NSW, and Zoe and her team help our customers safely navigate connecting and disconnecting gas during a renovation project, including how gas meters can be removed safely. Zoe emphasised that it is important that people who are renovating be aware that for safety reasons, gas abolishments must be arranged if customers are carrying out major works near the gas service, or demolishing an existing property. “Because of the danger of excavating near or around gas services, it is critical that a gas abolishment is completed before any major renovations or excavation work starts. This is required to ensure the safety of all involved,” Zoe said. We’re also working on a new project to make the connection process even simpler - meaning less stress for customers when renovating. *The many paths to net-zero* The Australian Energy Nation Forum brings together senior leaders from industry and government to discuss the current state of the energy sector, where we are headed, and how we think we should get there. Jemena’s Managing Director David Gillespie joined Mark McCallum from Low Emission Technology Australia and Richard Wrightson from Delta Electricity to discuss the many pathways to net-zero, and the importance of maintaining a reliable energy grid while working towards decarbonising. There can’t be one winner in our future energy mix. Technologies can and should complement one another to create a fully integrated system including investing in renewable gases like biomethane and hydrogen.
