InvertiGro Co-Founder and CEO, Paul Millett is looking forward to participating in the Vertical Farming World Congress panel discussion on ‘the future of profitable vertical farming’ in Frankfurt later this month.   Commercial viability is the Achilles heal of the vertical farming industry – and the focus of InvertiGro’s innovative ‘plug-and-play’ farming solution that enables businesses to reliably, sustainably and profitably grow, and easily switch between, a wide variety of crops, almost anywhere and at any scale.   It is an honour to share the stage with such good company – and we hope to see you there! https://lnkd.in/eKNHewak #InvertiGro #VerticalFarming #IndoorAg #AgTech #SustainableAgriculture

We're thrilled to have had this opportunity to champion Australian AgTech innovation on the global stage, including sharing our vision for a more sustainable and resilient agrifood ecosystem at the Austrade Greentech Breakfast session panel discussion. Thanks to Vertical Farm Daily for the opening image of our team with the InvertiCube and to Wim Verstraaten and Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) for panel discussion opportunity. #Australia #AgTech #Innovation #SustainableAgriculture #VerticalFarming

Food, technology and the future! 🌱🥩 As a foodie, I care about where food comes from, how it tastes, and its origin and story. I went on two food tech tours last week, and the food was grown inside labs. Yes, you read it right — LABS! The first tour was an indoor vertical farm, and the second tour was manufacturing lab-grown, cultured meat. Both tours were fascinating, and the science and manufacturing behind it was mind-blowing 🤯 Did you know: 🌱 50% of vegetables do not arrive at the final destination 🌱 25% of vegetables never leave the farm 🌱 25% of vegetables are lost in the supply chain I was at InvertiGro, an indoor vertical farm that creates controlled environments for growing vegetables, fruits, flowers, crops, animal feed, and leafy greens. Some of the main benefits include 🌱 food shortage issues 🌱 quality issues 🌱 no chemical pesticides 🌱 use less land, less water & less waste 🌱 fewer miles travelled, and 🌱 greater food security We may also have our favourite foods every season, not just in certain seasons! 🤯 I was also at Vow, a cultured meat startup. It is addressing the rapidly growing global demand for meat and using science and innovation to help meet it. How are they doing this? 🥩 They take a tiny bit of an animal and select the perfect cells. 🥩 They culture the cells and grow only the meat you want. This happens in huge tanks that give cells space to grow. 🥩 They craft food unlike anything else on the market. They don't aim to replicate meat but to make it more delicious and nutritious. Lab-grown or cultured meat is poised to revolutionise the food industry and become a sustainable solution for the future. Here's why: 🥩 Addressing Environmental Concerns: Traditional meat production contributes to greenhouse gas emissions, land degradation, and water scarcity. Cultured meat has a smaller environmental footprint, requiring up to 99% less land and 82-96% less water per kilogram than conventional meat production. 🥩 Improving Animal Welfare: Cultured meat offers a cruelty-free alternative to animal factory farming, aligning with the growing demand for more ethical and sustainable food choices. 🥩 Meeting Global Demand: With the world's population projected to reach 9.7 billion by 2050, the demand for meat is expected to increase by 13% by 2030. Cultured meat can provide a scalable and efficient solution to food without further straining our planet's resources. Thanks to Climate Action Week Sydney and Melissa O'Young for opening my eyes to new food tech practices and an excellent festival! 🤔 What do you think about indoor vertical farms and lab-grown cultured meat? Would you eat it? What other food tech solutions have you seen? #foodtech #climatetech #sustainability 👉 Follow Lucy Lin and Emerging Tech Unpacked for more tech, food, climate and sustainability insights and events
