Congratulations to our 2024 Passport to Work protégés and mentors! 🎉   Recently we celebrated the graduation of our 2024 program participants with our project partners Juno Institute and DPV Health.   The 12-week program not only offers valuable leadership development to Council employees, it also provides a wonderful connection to our Hume community, supporting local job seekers to develop their skills and find a pathway to meaningful employment or education! #AllforHume #EmploymentPathways   The graduation night recognised the dedication of: 🎓 13 community protégés 🎓 10 mentors from Hume City Council 🎓 6 mentors from DPV Health 🎓 and the staff from Hume City Council, Juno Institute and DPV Health that facilitate the program. Last month we hosted Sustainability Victoria's 2024 'Buy Recycled' event at Town Hall Broadmeadows.   Staff from approximately 18 Councils across Victoria along with industry and state government attendees, came together for the day to hear from guest speakers, meet suppliers, network and attend site tours. 🤝   The event showcased how Melbourne's Northern Councils are leaders in using inventive recycled products in infrastructure, landscaping, parks and gardens. ♻   By using recycled products, Councils are transforming procurement to support local circular economies, creating a more sustainable future and driving positive change. 📈   Hume's Circular Economy is predicted to add $903 million to our city's Gross Regional Product and create 1,500 jobs per year in Hume by 2040. We are achieving these outcomes through the "Towards Hume as a Circular City" program, which began in 2021, and helps guide Hume's heavily industrialised businesses to reuse and recycle.   The program aligns with Council’s Climate Change Action Plan 2023 – 2028, which aims to make Council operations carbon neutral by 2030 though the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from Council activities. 🌲   To read more about the event visit 🚌 https://lnkd.in/gqPvkK-b

We are so excited to welcome to Hume City’s Visitor Economy the first new-build hotel to the Melbourne Airport precinct in almost 20 years. 🎉 The Visitor Economy is one of Hume’s largest economic drivers, contributing to the economic prosperity and liveability of the city. The dual-branded Novotel and IBIS Styles Melbourne Airport hotel opened to guests this week from Monday 1 July showcasing: 🏢 464 rooms in total 💡 three conference spaces including a ballroom and the airport's first co-working space ☕ a café and two restaurants 🏊♂️ the airport's first health and wellbeing club that features an indoor heated pool, sauna, spa and fitness centre.   Council actively supports the sustainable growth of the Visitor Economy including the facilitation of tourism investment such as this new $230 million hotel development.   We are proud to be working with the hotel to support: 🏄♂️ partnerships with local attractions such as URBNSURF and the Sunbury wine region 🤝 local procurement 📍 B2B connections 💼 local employment (over 200 jobs have been created).   The introduction of the hotel to Hume will further help drive the Visitor Economy and position Hume as destination for locals and visitors alike.   To read more about the hotel's official launch https://lnkd.in/g2wgpp9N

Small businesses make a large contribution to the local economy which is why we are pleased to be offering business grants in two different categories 🎉 We are offering a total of $150,000 in Small Business Grants 🎁 (maximum amount that a business can receive is $20,000 plus GST) to eligible businesses.
