Established in 1932, the Hastings Deering Group is one of the top 5 Cat dealers worldwide. The company is the exclusive distributor for the sale of Cat equipment, technology solutions, parts and service support in our territories. Headquartered in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, Hastings Deering has over 3000 employees, across 23 business service centres throughout Queensland, Northern Territory, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands and New Caledonia.     Our team recently attend the Queensland Mining Industry Health & Safety Conference (QMIHSC), where the theme for this year was “Back To The Future.” Showcasing the Driver Safety System (DSS) technology, the team received excellent feedback from it being used in the field. The system is an in-cab detection technology that can help identify and address fatigue and distraction events, enhancing operator safety.     We recently assisted the Quilpie Shire Council in trialling the Cat® GraderBit2 system. They found that these new ground engaging tools saved money, time and reduced workplace injury risks.   “It’s certainly worthwhile purchasing a GraderBit2 system, the offset of the initial costs are it’s productivity, health and safety and keeping the operator happy.     We are thrilled to announce that Rhys, who won our Global Technician Challenge heat in July this year, has achieved an outstanding second place in the ANZI (Australia, New Zealand, and Indonesia) regional final of the Caterpillar Inc. Global Dealer Technician Challenge!   Our Training Delivery Manager, Brodie, attended the week-long event and said, “The Caterpillar Global Dealer Learning Team crafted an exceptional competition that pushed each expert-level technician to their limits. I couldn’t be prouder to have served as a mentor for Hastings Deering and to see Rhys secure an impressive second place. The primary assessors were thoroughly impressed by Rhys’s performance and eagerly anticipate his next challenge in Malaga, Spain."   Congratulations to Rhys and all the participants for their incredible achievements. We are proud to have such talented and dedicated professionals representing our company on the global stage.

    Our team recently delivered Newlands Group a new Cat® 315 excavator. Their operators and mechanics were on-site to get acquainted with the new machinery and learn about its advanced features and capabilities to ensure optimal performance and safety in their operations moving forward. The Newlands Group team "are looking forward to seeing the increased efficiency and productivity this new excavator will bring to our projects."

    This month, Russell is celebrating 30 years with Hastings Deering. Russell first started at Hastings Deering in 1982 as an apprentice diesel fitter. Over the years, he has progressed through roles such as Leading Hand, Service Advisor, and Field Service Supervisor. Today, he is an Account Manager for Quarries and Aggregates. When asked what has kept him at Hastings Deering for so long, Russell emphasized the company’s stability and supportive environment. “I’ve felt valued as an employee and that the business wanted me to be here,” he said.     Queensland Mining & Engineering Exhibition (QME) allowed us to connect with our customers, fostering existing relationships and building new ones while also showcasing the latest technology and innovations.   There was a lot of excitement around the high-efficiency electric drive technology of the Cat® 988K XE Wheel Loader. The electric drive system works in conjunction with a Cat C18 engine, offering high power and torque while optimising fuel consumption and reducing emissions.   Congratulations to our incredible events team on another successful expo!

    Congratulations to Alzino & Co Earthmoving who recently won our Undercarriage competition. Our team delivered the Cat® 301.5 Excavator and Alltrade Trailer to their Caboolture location and even Charlie the dog got involved. Alzino commented - “To win this machine was a thrilling shock to all our team. The dedication Hastings Deering have provided our company, for what feels like a hundred years, has been second to none. Thank you for the time you took to come and spend with us and share old stories.”
