It's not just care, it's HammondCare.

About us

HammondCare is an independent Christian charity specialising in aged care and dementia care, palliative care, pain, rehabilitation, older persons' mental health and younger onset dementia. Regarded as one of Australia’s most innovative health and aged care providers, HammondCare offers hospital care, residential care, dementia advisory services, and community support services across Australia and in the United Kingdom. HammondCare’s origins go back to 1932 when Anglican Archdeacon R B S Hammond provided homes for inner-city families in Sydney facing eviction during the Depression. He used his own superannuation funds to finance and create a 'rent to purchase' scheme in the area now known as Hammondville near Liverpool. HammondCare continues to pursue this mission today and our passion is improving quality of life for people in need. We serve people with complex health or aged care needs, regardless of their circumstances. Denice’s favourite pastime as a teenager was galloping through the waves at Sydney’s Cronulla Beach on her beloved pony, Honey. Denice, a palliative care patient at HammondCare’s Braeside Hospital, was unable to travel due to her declining health. She feared she may never have one last moment with the animals she adored. Determined to fulfil her wish, the team behind HammondCare Foundation’s Dreams Project arranged for two ponies to visit her at Braeside Hospital. ‘I had always told my kids about the beauty of these majestic creatures, and I finally got the chance to share it with them. ‘I know we will treasure this memory for all our days.’ Find out more about HammondCare Foundation’s Dreams Project and how you can help more dreams come true here: https://hubs.li/Q02HyylY0 #hammondcare #itsnotjustcare #palliativecare #hammondcarefoundation #makingdreamscometrue

On the day Ken became a permanent resident at HammondCare Miranda, he and his wife Yvonne also celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. With the help of the team at Miranda, they decided to renew their wedding vows. Yvonne shares: ‘‘The team at HammondCare take such good care of him, and us. They arranged the ceremony in the onsite chapel, and even made me a little posy of flowers from the garden.’ Lois, HammondCare’s Head of Residential Pastoral Care, was on hand to help Father John lead the renewal of the wedding vows and provide accompaniment on the piano. ‘What a great privilege to be present. The commitment of this couple was inspiring.’ Find out more about our relationship based approach to residential care here: https://hubs.li/Q02H1lvH0 #HammondCare #itsnotjustcare #agedcare #dementiacare #dementia #residentialagedcare #weddinganniversary

As NAIDOC Week celebrations continue, we’re sharing images from HammondCare’s Dementia Centre team who provide care and support for First Nations families across remote regions of Australia. They’ll travel anywhere to support people in need – including the tiny community of Nyirripi in the Central Desert Region of the Northern Territory, 450 km from Alice Springs. We acknowledge and respect First Nations clients, patients and people we serve in our community, alongside our valued First Nations team members, who also share in the rich and significant heritage of the oldest culture in the world. #NAIDOC2024 #firstnations #NAIDOCWeek #BlakLoudProud

Bill Yeates was diagnosed with Younger Onset Dementia in his late 50s. Life hasn’t slowed down for him since. In August, Bill – who is a Living Experience Associate Consultant for HammondCare’s Dementia Centre – is planning to attend the Walking the Talk for Dementia ‘unconventional conference’ in Spain, a 6 day event that will explore dementia through the lens of diverse experiences and perspectives. The event includes a 40km walk along the historic Camino de Santiago de Compostela. Bill always likes a challenge – so he’s planning to RUN the 40km route! And his motivation is loud and clear: ‘I want to change the narrative of dementia and show that people living with dementia can enjoy fulfilling lives and contribute to the global movement of raising awareness to reduce the stigma.’ Will you help us raise $8,000 to cover Bill’s travel costs to reach this inspiring personal goal, and to represent people living with dementia in this vital international discussion? You can donate here https://hubs.li/Q02Fq1F20 and select ‘Bill's Walking the Talk for Dementia’ (2nd on the drop down list) #dementia #dementiacare #dementiasupport #inspirational #hammondcare #camino #walkingthetalkfordementia

A new chapter has just been announced for HammondCare’s heartland, Hammondville, where our founder Rev Bob Hammond purchased land to build 110 rent-purchase homes to accommodate homeless families during the great depression. The new $63 million redevelopment project will centre on two aged care homes designed according to international best practice. We thank Channel 9 for their news segment of the announcement, featuring outgoing CEO Mike Baird, Hammondville child and legendary state MP John Hatton, and former HammondCare Director of Nursing Rosemary Bond. Liverpool Mayor Ned Mannoun also attended to assist in a commemorative tree planting. #itsnotjustcare #agedcare #HammondCare #dementiacare #hammondville
