Last month, CSR Gyprock teamed up with the North Melbourne Football Club and their Freestyle program for the 2024 Trade Fit Expo at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. Over 2000 students attended over the 2 days – primarily female and from diverse backgrounds – to explore opportunities in trades and technology. They engaged in interactive activities and gained insights into career paths, in traditionally more male-dominated industries. Gyprock's contribution included a hole patching activation, where students learned to patch small holes using the Gyprock Rapid Repair Kit, in the process gaining a better understanding of our business and our industry. Our Gyprock Trade Silverwater store is proud to have recently housed the AWCI NSW Steel Cap Boot Camp. The Steel Cap Boot Camp allows AWCI NSW to bring together apprentices from across the state to fine tune some skills they may not get on site throughout their apprenticeship, providing an experience that sets AWCINSW apart from other training providers. Highlights included, physiologists leading exercises at 6am to prevent injuries, followed by discussions on mental health by Mates in Construction. Along with a visit to manufacturing plants to understand the origin of plasterboard, promoting the trade to the next generation. Ending the day with guidance from the Office of the Building Commission on roles and responsibilities. Overall an exceptional day that we hope everyone enjoyed! We look forward to welcoming AWCI NSW and their future Steel Cap Boot Camps to our GTC again. This really is industry collaboration in action! #CSR #csrgyprock #awcinsw
