Last month we released our latest report, 'Deforestation Crisis on Their Watch', outlining Australia's position as a global deforestation hotspot, and how every second, our native wildlife is killed by bulldozers driven primarily by the beef industry. 🥩🌳 https://lnkd.in/gdbB-sFE Also included in the report was our 2024 Deforestation Scorecard, assessing how 10 of Australia's top retailers and beef processors stacked up in terms of becoming deforestation-free by 2025. Companies included major supermarket retailers, beef processors, and fast-food giant McDonald's. 📢 Spoiler alert: Macca's failed and scored 3.5/10 ...As a major buyer of Australian beef, Macca's has a supersized impact on the beef industry - and an even bigger responsibility to stop deforestation. 🐨💔 Tell McDonald’s it's time to take deforestation off the menu 👉 https://lnkd.in/gP34bQEZ

  • ⛵With the launch of our new campaigning ship Oceania, Greenpeace is ushering in a new era of climate and ocean protection in Australia and the Pacific. 🌏 Greenpeace Australia Pacific is the only Australian environmental organisation with a bluewater vessel that will sail across Australia and the Pacific regions. With Oceania, we’ll be moving at speed from coast to coast, across our oceans, to protect these great lands, seas and skies. ✊This week we’re setting sail for its first mission: to shine a spotlight on Woodside’s diabolical plans in WA. 👀Watch this space.

Prime Minister Albanese, the Presidents of Palau and French Polynesia have a message for you: say NO to deep sea mining and don’t let the GREED of mining companies take the lead. The ocean has no borders, what happens in one part of the sea affects the rest of the ocean. All around the Pacific, leaders are speaking out to safeguard the ocean and their way of life. #StopDeepSeaMining #ISBA29

  • 🚨 The world has baked for 12 consecutive months with global average temperatures 1.64°C over pre-industrial averages according to the Copernicus Climate Change Service.⁣⁣ 👉 https://lnkd.in/ehKqCauz Floods, fires, and heat waves have shattered homes, claimed lives and ruined people’s health, while major oil and gas corporations continue to profit, deny climate science, and hinder climate action. ...Jointly earning an estimated US$ 2.8 billion every day over the past 50 years. 🌏🔥 In 2021 Woodside, Exxon, Shell, Chevron, Inpex and APLNG paid no tax at all on a collective $34 billion of income. 😱 ⁣⁣It's time for them to start paying for the loss and damage they have created. #StopDrillingStartPaying ⁣

  • 📢 Listen up Australian Government 📢 These inspiring women from Tonga have a message for you. #ICYMI Right now, world leaders are meeting in Jamaica to discuss the future of deep sea mining - an industry that could have catastrophic impacts on marine ecosystems and the way of life of Pasifika people. We must stop this destructive industry before it starts. #StopDeepSeaMining #ISBA29

  • "...the threat of climate change is never more real until it's on your doorstep”  - Activist and law student, Anjali Sharma At just 16 years old, Anjali saw her friends and family affected by unprecedented bushfires and extreme flooding events. This led her to join climate protests across Australia, and eventually lead a class action against the Australian Government to protect future generations from climate change.  And last year, Anjali joined us onboard Greenpeace's Rainbow Warrior, to sail from Australia to Vanuatu to showcase how the global movement is using the law to fight climate change. 🌈🕊️ Her journey for justice is a force to be reckoned with. • 39 years ago today, our iconic flagship vessel, the Rainbow Warrior I, was bombed and sank by French secret service agents in New Zealand. 💚 An instance when a government chose to respond to peaceful protest with deadly force. But nearly 40 years later, Greenpeace's peaceful protest has prevailed. We remember our crew member, photographer and dear friend, Fernando Pereira, who was tragically killed, and the spirit that still lives on today: You can't sink a rainbow 🌈🕊 In 1989, the ship was replaced by a new vessel, and 35 years later the Rainbow Warrior continues to sail the world's oceans to continue campaigning for a green and peaceful future. ...And we can't wait for Greenpeace Australia Pacific's new campaigning vessel, Oceania, to join this iconic global fleet shortly. 👉 Read more about the legacy of the Rainbow Warrior here https://lnkd.in/ekM_7Xej #greenpeace #rainbowwarrior
