Awesome to see our #HyperFlight news in the The Australian today! We’re launching a #hypersonic flight test service in 2025 to support commercial/defence customers that need speeds of Mach 5 (more than 5x the speed of sound). From Queensland to the The Andy Thomas Space Foundation in Adelaide... Gilmour Space head of sales, David Jervis, was on a launch panel discussing the importance of national access to space through #sovereign launch capability. Among others, Dave highlighted our desirable #accesstospace for customers in the Asia Pacific region, and the #workforce and #supplychain benefits of having a sovereign launch company that's developing, building and launching rockets from Australia. (PS: That beautiful night shot of our #Eris rocket and the Milky Way was taken by our talented colleague Zaid D!) ✨🚀🇦🇺
“When we are successful with #Eris, it will be the world's very first hybrid rocket to ever make it into space, which I think will be an amazing achievement.” David Jervis Gilmour Space Technologies speaking at #AUSpaceForum

Our director of Launch Vehicles & Satellites, Dave Doyle, was at the Cooperative Research Australia annual conference in Brisbane today with fellow panellists Dr Milica Symul, iLaunch Trailblazer; Alex Woerndle, My Empire Group; and chair Patricia Kelly. Speaking on 'Sovereign capability: How do we determine what we do here and what we purchase?', Dave noted that for privately-funded, local companies like #GilmourSpace, decisions are often Australia-focused and commercially driven. He pointed to our CRC-Projects (with Griffith University; The University of Queensland, ACM CRC) whose outcomes will live on the rocket... and how our efforts underscore the benefits of supporting sovereign innovation, successful collaborations, and championing industry leaders.

Think Australia has nothing in high tech? Think again! When we looked to our left and right at yesterday’s Tech Council of Australia Innovative Tech showcase at Parliament House, we saw exciting Aussie companies like: ⭐️ Propeller — using smart GIS and surveying tech to map, measure and manage worksites like never before; 🌟 Advanced Navigation — applying AI-based robotics and navigation to land, air, sea and space applications; 💫 Q-CTRL — on a mission to make quantum tech useful for solving the world’s most difficult problems; ✨ Silicon Quantum Computing — developing scalable quantum computing tech based on silicon; ⭐️ Diraq — using silicon ‘quantum dot’ technology to drive qubit numbers on a single chip; 🌟 Vow (with our founders on stage)— creating tasty food made of cultured meat that’s good for your health and the planet. Indeed, with 45 more of such companies ranging from agri-tech to space tech… the future looks bright! 🇦🇺🚀

Being a founder is no walk in the park. You’ll experience the best of times, and the worst of times…possibly all in one day! Our CEO & co-founder, Adam Gilmour spoke with the The Australian Financial Review‘s Tess Bennet at the AFR Entrepreneur Summit in Sydney, and shared some hard lessons learnt as a new space entrepreneur in Australia… 🚀 It’s always harder and takes longer than you think to develop and commercialise deep tech. Make sure you have the cashflow and staying power for it (e.g., consider delaying big capital expenditures until you really need them.) 🚀 With venture capital, it’s important to step out all the key tech milestones that will get you to market; then show investors you can achieve them. 🚀 If you need Govt approvals, build in a sufficiently long lead time for getting that over the line. (It could be much longer than you think, esp the first time.) 🚀 Last but not least… perseverance matters. Times will be tough; and tough times need tough people. Almost every challenge can be overcome with a good team. Onward and upward! (Photo credit: AFR/Oscar Colman)
