🌍 Our commitments towards a sustainable future How can we create floors, walls & finishes, while preserving our planet? The answer? Our "We Care, We Act" policy. Through this sustainable development policy, we have put in place a number of commitments to reduce our carbon impact by 2025. Focusing on 5 of our major daily actions: 1️⃣ The quest for zero carbon: We have been deploying solar panels on many of our factory sites. Our products travel the roads in natural gas trucks. Over 50% of products sold are manufactured locally on each continent. 2️⃣ Recycled content in our products: Nothing is lost, everything is transformed! We give materials a second life by incorporating recycled content into our new products. Our sample cards are recycled too! 3️⃣ Recycling target: We are working towards "zero waste" factories. With our "Second Life" and "ResiLoop" programs. Your old floors become tomorrow's raw materials. 4️⃣ Glue-Free installation products: Gerflor offers 30 product ranges that can be laid freely without adhesive. This means less glue, less CO² and more opportunities for re-use. 5️⃣ Biobased content: We are developing and researching more and more biobased ingredients that combine performance and respect for the environment. Because preserving the environment is one of our top priorities, we keep searching for solutions that promote sustainable development. Setting course for sustainable solar energy! ☀️ At Gerflor, we are taking a significant step towards decarbonizing our energy. Several production sites around the world, including facilities in France, Germany, China and Belgium, are now equipped with photovoltaic panels. This initiative marks an important step in our energy transition. By 2023, a total of 68,500 m² of solar panels have been installed across the globe. And this is just the beginning! Our objectives for 2025: ➡️ 50% decarbonized energy in our energy mix ➡️ 10% of our electricity from photovoltaic panels in France In 2024 and 2025, we'll be building on this momentum with new photovoltaic facilities planned in France (Saint Paul and Dinac). Marketing Director Jutta Fronert and Sustainability Specialist Esther Ma met with Sophi MacMillan from the Australian Resilient Flooring Association Inc, Project Director of the ResiLoop program, to discuss Gerflor's strong commitment to ResiLoop as one of the founding members. Last night during the Vinyl Council of Australia conference, the ResiLoop program won an award for Advancing Circularity. The Advancing Circularity Award recognises those taking positive actions to ensure that a greater volume of materials are being retained as a valuable resource as part of a more circular economy. Milan Design Week is the world’s largest annual design gathering, featuring the Salone del Mobile furniture fair and hundreds of events around the city collectively known as the Fuorisalone. This year, Gerflor had the exciting opportunity to support Elle Décor Italia’s project ”Material Home” at the historic Palazzo Bovara. “Material Home” is a collaboration with Elisa Ossino Studio, Rossi Bianchi Lighting Design and Studio Antonio Perazzi, offering a unique sensory experience. Dressing the floors of this contemporary interior design is Gerflor's Taralay Impression Uni Matt Copper, providing a warm and earthy character that connects perfectly with the materials, textures and lighting proposed in this beautiful composition.
