We were delighted when Consulate-General of Japan (Brisbane) recently visited our commercial kitchen in Stones Corner with renown Chef Suzuki. Inspired by Australian ingredients and naturally delicious superfoods lemon myrtle and finger limes, Chef Suzuki creates a fusion of Japanese and Australian flavours. Our team was also keen to share foodie tips as we love experimenting with native bush ingredients including kangaroo katsu sando, an Aussie version of a Japanese sandwich! #lovewhatyoueat #bushfood #chef #ThisIsBrisbane #brisbane #indigenousbusiness #brisbanefoodblogger #supplynationregistered #bushfoodaustralia #australianmade #catering #Queensland #indigenousfood #Indigenous #bushfood #brisbanefoodies #superfoods #nativebushfoods #brisbanecatering #foodisgoodjustaskme #nativebushfoodchef #FigJamCollections #condiments #Sydney #Melbourne #Japan #Australia

So proud of our team 🖤 💛 ❤️
With a culinary career spanning 30 years, Jason Davidson has cooked up a storm across four continents. Today Jason is managing director of FigJam & Co. a second-generation Indigenous business located in Stones Corner in Brisbane’s inner south, with son Jacob (pictured) as Head of Strategy and daughter Abbey as Human Resources Manager. Jason and his family are descendants of the Gunditjamara and Ngarrindjeri mobs from South-West Victoria and South-East South Australia. The Davidsons are proud of their Indigenous heritage and have a passion for creating unique dining experiences. That passion has led to the introduction of Australian native bush foods on corporate catering menus and their success is growing. More recently, the team has manufactured a range of gourmet condiments containing nutrient-rich superfoods as the ‘secret sauce’ with more than 90% Australian ingredients. In partnership with the Qld Food Incubator, the Davidsons also connect passionate foodies into the Indigenous food supply chain. #Queensland flavours and provenance - thanks Trade and Investment Queensland for the intro to #UK - here's hoping events like this open doors for #FirstNations food and beverage products 🤞
Agent-General for Queensland in the UK and Senior Queensland Trade & Investment Commissioner, Europe
It has been an absolute pleasure working with our amazing and passionate Queensland food and beverage exporters who took part in IFE - International Food & Drink Event 2024. Our First Nations exporters were front and centre with Beachtree Distilling Co., Figjam & Co, Sobah Beverages and Kakadu Organics – a great example of how Queensland’s First Nations entrepreneurs have contributed to international trade for over 60,000 years. Also on the Queensland stand: 🥩 we had Signature Beef, JBS Australia Pty Limited, Teys Australia and King River leading the way for Queensland’s beef industry 🍽 the Fable Food Co team served delicious recipes with their pulled mushroom products 🔥 Queensland’s diverse beverage producers were on show with CAVU (Nil Desperandum), Diviners Distillery, Wolf Lane Distillery, and Ballistic Beer Co. 🌝 we also had Albany Products Ltd (Honeyex), Flavour Creations, and The Lime Caviar Company showing their delicious products to UK buyers. With more than 27,000 visitors, #IFE is a global event where exporters can expose their produce and products to the most influential and decerning UK buyers. We know about the quality of #Queensland food and beverages; and now the UK does too. Trade and Investment Queensland looks forward to continuing our support of Queensland food and beverage exporters under the Australia-UK Free Trade Agreement #AUKFTA which has removed tariffs on 99 per cent of goods. The team at DAF have been instrumental to the success of our bush tucker condiments. Thank you Kerridyn, Trish and DAF family for your amazing support 🙏🏽
We opened the doors to our Health and Food Sciences Precinct in Brisbane as part of the World Science Festival’s Labs Unlocked series. The tour took guests through our state-of-the-art Food Pilot Plant, product development lab and consumer and sensory science lab and tasting booths. Our senior food technologist Kerridyn Hooker says the tour was a huge success. “Witnessing the curiosity and enthusiasm of the attendees reaffirmed the importance of showcasing the groundbreaking science and technology underpinning food innovation,” Kerridyn says. “It’s moments like these that truly highlight the impact of events like Labs Unlocked in fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for STEM.” Guests also sampled condiments and beverages developed by our Food Innovation team and First Nations businesses Figjam & Co and Yaala Sparkling as part of the Indigenous Native Food Program. The Labs Unlocked series highlights the breadth and diversity of STEM innovation shaping our daily lives and celebrates Brisbane’s growing expertise in the global knowledge economy. #WSFB2024 #worldsciencefestival #labsunlocked #stem #innovation

That's a wrap! Thanks to the team at Food Industries Association of Queensland for the opportunity to present at the Native and Sovereign Foods Seminar. While it's important to highlight business success, people also like to know about the challenges... and throughout our 25-year journey we've had a few 😉. It's inspiring to meet with industry professionals who are as passionate as we are about Australian native bush foods.
