Do people understand the purpose of their role in your organisation? The research shows that it can make a big difference to engagement, satisfaction and performance. Sometimes, getting it right comes down to good communication, role design and recognition. We’ve ran many projects to support this - and have measured the results (and won a lot of awards) in this area. If people don’t see the purpose of their role, they’ll never be fully engaged. I think most organisations and leaders know this, yet very few actually go the extra mile here to support their people. It’s not a new problem either. Since the dawn of factory work, this challenge has existed and employees have struggled to make a direct connection between their efforts and the organisation’s success. Can you draw a line between what you do on a day-to-day basis and how your efforts contribute to the success of your organisation? Probably not - or if you can, it’ll take a bit of thinking time. Many companies have invested in a recognition platform in an attempt to fill this gap, hoping that by sending praise, rewards and acknowledgements that people will see how their efforts are making a difference. Though, out of the box solutions can rarely communicate or reinforce how daily tasks contribute to bottom-line business results. Actually, if you want to help your people see the purpose of their roles, there are a few relatively simple things you can do to kick this off: 1️⃣ Start by sharing the bigger picture with your team. 2️⃣ Show them how their work contributes to the company's mission and goals. 3️⃣ Celebrate their achievements and connect their daily tasks to the organisation's overall success. The good news is that when employees see the significance of their work, they’re often more engaged, satisfied, and motivated. And, of course - this helps to drive engagement but also business results. We’ve seen this first hand - and have helped many organisations realise this. If you’re looking for ideas or info - flick us a message if you’d like to connect. #employeeengagement #employeerecognition #purpose

There’s a legal duty now for Australian directors to address mental health hazards at work, but awareness of this is rather low. Clint Strahan joined Lisa Cook recently to talk about this, and offer some tips on how directors can support the workforce (and compliance). #wellbeing #workplace #psychosocialhazards

OMG. We're sponsoring an event! Professional events can sometimes be a bit stuffy, pretentious and boring ... but they shouldn't be. Especially events about wellbeing. Workplace wellbeing events should be fun. They should be immersive. And they should be focussed on great ideas - ideas that solve problems and improve our workplaces. For all these reasons we have fallen in love with The Serenity Collective's Thriving Workplace event … and it felt right to make it the only event we’ve aligned ourselves with as a sponsor ... and we're stoked about being there in Sydney later this month. They have a heap of amazing speakers, activities (just watch the video of last year's event - link in comments) and an awesome location. So, if you're keen on immersing yourself into wellbeing, if you’d like to learn how to enhance workplace wellbeing, tackle big problems and make yours (and your people’s) lives better - then check out this year's Thriving Workplace event: https://lnkd.in/g3eTMT8Z Thanks Claire Jones (on Guringai Land) and team for having us! #wellbeing #workplacewellbeing #wellbeingevent
