Robertson Facade Systems is beyond proud to be involved in delivering the facade for Crows Nest Station, using Brick Inlay, where the brick protrudes 85mm using a Flemish Bond pattern. @afa_formlinersaustralia after many trials, we arrived at a solution, then with @evolutionprecast we manufactured the panels. Featuring Namoi Valley Coolibah Cream bricks. See the Repost from @woodsbagot below ... "Back in the day bricks used to be laid one at a time – now they’re positioned in their thousands thanks to Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), used to great effect at Sydney Metro Crows Nest Station. “We’ve come up with a system where we’re embedding bricks into precast concrete, giving us the ability to not only reference a local material but also do it in an interesting way, cantilevering the bricks out of the concrete to create these amazing feature walls.” - W-B Associate Principal Lucian Gormley 📷 @kylefordphotography 🏗️ @evolutionprecast 👷 #AWEdwards 🔨 #robertsonfacadesystems

If you have been to Crows Nest lately, you may have noticed something different about the Sydney Metro Crows Nest Station building. 👀 Scaffold has been stripped on Oxley Street, and part of Pacific Highway giving a first look at the brick exterior façade of the new Crows Nest station entrance building. 🧱 🧱 🧱 Aside from the bricks being a key design feature of the station both externally and internally, what makes these exterior bricks special is the way they are constructed and installed. About 65% of the stations’ brick exterior is pre-built off-site.  That’s approximately 115,000 bricks laid into eight-metre-long concrete panels, delivered to site and lifted into place by crane🏗️ The remaining 35% of the stations façade is made up of 126,000 hand laid bricks and glass panels. We look forward to sharing more progress shots as the station build nears completion. #construction #building #contractor #sydneymetro #evolutionprecast #favettiptyltd

Back in the day bricks used to be laid one at a time – now they’re positioned in their thousands thanks to Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), used to great effect at Sydney Metro Crows Nest Station. Woods Bagot Associate Principal Lucian Gormley says bricks reflect the materiality of Federation period houses throughout the well-established suburb, 5km north of the CBD. “Back in the day bricks would be laid one at a time, now we’re building them in eight-tonne modules,” says Gormley. “We’ve come up with a system where we’re embedding bricks into precast concrete, giving us the ability to not only reference a local material but also do it in an interesting way, cantilevering the bricks out of the concrete to create these amazing feature walls.” Senior Associate Anthony Chow says opting for precast technology on large projects has key advantages over traditional labour-intensive methods including speed of installation and quality control. He says the reddish brick panels, designed as a Flemish bond, were installed over several days in a delicate operation by crane, the skilled operator threading the needle by lowering them into place through a one-metre gap between scaffolding and station structure. Today is RUOK? Day, a national day of action dedicated to reminding people to check in with their family, friends and colleagues not just today, but everyday. Whilst we take time away from work each month to enjoy a team bbq, today’s bbq and toolbox talk was an important reminder for all staff to be respectful to one another, and have meaningful conversations. A simple “R U OK?” has the ability to change a persons day, and even outcomes. By fostering open communication and empathy, and encouraging care and support within the workplace we can breakdown barriers and stigma around mental health. #ruokday2023 #ruokday #mentalhealthmatters #team
