What can we do to improve the safety of our teams? 👷️🚨 This is a question we ask consistently, with everyone in our network encouraged to inspire and innovate to ensure we get home safely every day. We’re thrilled our Zero Harm team - who work across Health & Education, Defence, Government & IFM - are finalists in the prestigious Australian Workplace Health & Safety Awards. They have been recognised for their groundbreaking Critical Risk Lookahead tool, which allows us to proactively identify and mitigate potential risks and redefines how we engage with our team in the field.  Congratulations to the team and thank you for your dedication to keeping us safe!  We wish all our finalists the best at the awards ceremony to be held late next month 🏆. #WHSInnovation #ZeroHarm #TeamWork #WorkplaceSafety  Australian Institute of Health & Safety, Luke Bartlett, Tim Gilchrist, Ben Nelson, Yakov Terterian

It’s positive news for the local Hawkesbury-Nepean catchment as our Water team nears completion on an upgrade to the Winmalee Sewerage Treatment Plant on behalf of our client Sydney Water. The project consists of a new inlet works fine screen facility, construction of a new Membrane Bio Reactor (MBR) tank and conversion of the existing sequential batch reactors into bioreactors. The team are also constructing a number of chemical dosing facilities as part of the project. The result? Better water outcomes for the local environment and another example of our commitment to enabling communities to thrive. Congratulations to Craig West on his recognition as a finalist in the Building Nations Impact Awards for Outstanding Leadership and Contribution to the Infrastructure Sector. Craig started with Downer back in 2001 as a motivated mowing cadet. Today, Craig is New Zealand Country Lead and Executive General Manager for Downer’s Transport & Infrastructure business in New Zealand. Together with a stint of professional rugby earlier in his career, it’s been a journey that’s quite different to most senior executives. One that we greatly value at Downer. Craig’s commitment to delivering excellence for our customers, while being a true people’s leader makes him a valuable part of Downer’s senior team. Congratulations to all the finalists. #InspiringLeadership #Infrastructure Infrastructure New Zealand

🎉 🚄 World class trains for a world class city 🎉 🚄 Recently, the 70th High Capacity Metro Train entered passenger service marking the end of the manufacture, testing and commissioning process for Melbourne’s most inclusive and accessible train. The HCMT fleet is known as Melbourne’s Bigger, Better fleet, but did you know: 🚄 The trains are the only ones on the Metro Melbourne network with First Nations livery. 🚄 They are the only trains that will operate through the Metro Tunnel and are the first time in Australia that High Capacity Signalling has been integrated with an existing signalling system. 🚄 They won the Leader of Rolling Stock and Public Transport Award at the Victorian Manufacturing Awards in 2023. Downer is proud to have delivered this project to support the passengers of Melbourne.   This truly was a team effort and we thank every individual involved from across the supply chain, whose capability and effort have been instrumental in delivering 70 High Capacity Metro Trains, marking a step change in Melbourne’s public transport. #MyHCMT #DownerinVic #DownerRail Natalie Bond, Ian Sturdy, Jean-Marc Chevaugeon, Matt Arculus, Phillip Walker, Evolution Rail, Department of Transport and Planning

After nine months, the long-awaited transformation of Solomon Islands' Seghe Airfield runway is complete. Our teams joined Solomon Islands’ Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele, New Zealand Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters, AECOM and excited locals to mark the official handover.  The $55 million (NZD) project was transformative and co-funded by the Governments of New Zealand, Australia and Solomon Islands. Downer was proud to successfully deliver the project alongside designers, AECOM. George Leidig, Head of Airports for Downer Transport & Infrastructure, explained, “When our team began the project, the runway was simply a grass strip which significantly limited the type of aircraft that could land. Though beautiful, the sea bordering Seghe and each end of the runway posed threats of storm surges and longer-term impacts of sea level rise. Now our work is complete, Seghe has a raised, all-weather, sealed runway surface with effective airfield ground lighting, with substantial seawalls and drainage upgrades which provide protection from water.” Seghe is remote. At 247 kilometres from Solomon Island’s capital, Honiara, and 3,600 kilometres from Auckland, New Zealand, the remoteness and sheer distances provided a significant challenge for our teams on the ground. One potential issue, resourcing, was overcome by Downer’s desire to embrace the Solomon Islands community and workforce. Downer employed 63 local staff, which included 14 women, and engaged over 50 companies based both in Seghe and Honiara to deliver the project. Not only did this enable the project to leverage local knowledge and resources, it also enabled our people to make meaningful and long-lasting connections with the community. Rt. Hon. Peters said of the project, “As well as boosting local jobs, the upgrade will support the growth of the tourism industry, expand economic opportunities, and improve access to essential services and more equitable development across the provinces.” It’s clear that this project will directly enable the Seghe community to thrive. 22 years ago, Downer proudly introduced the first Millennium train into passenger service. These trains were built right here in NSW, by the highly skilled team of workers at our Cardiff rail facility. Today, they remain a workhorse of the Sydney Trains' fleet maintained at our Auburn Maintenance Centre.   A big thanks to Jo Haylen on the birthday shoutout for these iconic trains 🎂 #DownerRail #PublicTransport

Sydney Trains’ M-Set Millenniums just turned 22. They're 35 of the 372 trains we're improving as part of our new Train Repair Plan.
