🌱🌼 Introducing the DM Roads Melton Garden! 🌿🥕 Our DM Roads Melton team has created a beautiful garden in front of our depot, featuring a variety of flowers, herbs, and vegetables. This green space is open to all our employees, who are welcome to take home the produce to their families. Each garden bed includes a compost bin, encouraging the use of fresh coffee grounds, food scraps, and paper materials to promote sustainability. This initiative aims to raise environmental consciousness among our team and provide a space where nature's cognitive benefits can be enjoyed. Our contract with Melton City Council places a strong emphasis on sustainability, and this garden is a tangible representation of our commitment. The installation process also served as a fantastic team bonding opportunity. We look forward to expanding this green space in the future, promoting its sustainability features at educational events, and watching our team collaborate to ensure its continued success. #Downer #Sustainability #GreenSpace #TeamBonding #MeltonCityCouncil 🌱🌍 Downer Transport & Infrastructure

Meals from the Heart – A Day of Giving back. We're incredibly proud of our NorthConnex team members Murat Zorluoglu, Ritchie Taylor, Kayla Steeden, and Adam Finlayson who recently joined our client NorthWestern Roads Group (NWR) and supply chain partner SIMCO Tunnel & Metro for a "Meals from the Heart" session. The team rolled up their sleeves and stepped into the kitchen to prepare fresh, nutritious meals for seriously ill children and their families at Ronald McDonald House Greater Western Sydney. This vital facility provides essential accommodation for sick children, their parents, siblings, and caregivers across 60 rooms. We wholeheartedly acknowledge the fantastic role that Ronald McDonald House plays in creating a safe and supportive environment that keeps families together, allowing them to focus on comforting and protecting their seriously ill or injured child while receiving vital hospital treatment. This independently run charity relies on the financial support of corporate and community partners to continue their incredible work and our team is now exploring additional ways to support this wonderful charity on top of regularly helping in the kitchen. Thank you, Ronald McDonald House Charities, for all that you do. We're honoured to play a small part in your mission. 💙 #CommunitySupport #MealsFromTheHeart #RonaldMcDonaldHouse #NCXTeam

Fantastic recognition for one of our own team members. Well done to Rhys Smart for being awarded the Quiet Achiever Award at the 2024 CCF SA Industry and Training Awards.
Congratulations to our Project Manager Rhys Smart on taking out the Quiet Achiever Award at the 2024 CCF SA Industry and Training Awards. Rhys was up against some tough competition, but ultimately came away with the win after the judging panel recognised what his colleagues see in him every day – his strong work ethic, his leadership abilities, his willingness to help others, and his dedication to delivering on project outcomes. Rhys embodies what it is to be a quiet achiever, and we couldn’t be prouder of him for receiving this award. #CCFSAindustrytrainingawards2024 #DMRoads Eva Skartados, Mathew Elliott, Christopher Shaw, Anika Chambers

Great to see our SA team leading the way and bringing the team together for Road Safety Week. Well done team.
Yesterday, our workforce came together to mark National Road Safety Week – a week for us to remember those who have lost their lives on our roads, reflect on how we can make our roads safer, and act to make a difference in attitudes towards road safety. Our breakfast BBQ kicked off with guest speaker Darren Davis, President and Director of the Get Home Safe Foundation, who spoke about the importance of calling out poor driver behaviours like mobile phone usage and speeding, to help change attitudes around road safety with our family and friends. For DM Roads, road safety is critical. Our people are working on roads every day and rely on drivers around them to follow posted signage when travelling through work zones. While you may not be able to see why a speed limit has been reduced, it is vital to the safety of our workers on the ground and can be the difference between them going home safely at the end of their shift. #NRSW2024 #DriveSoOthersSurvive #RoadSafety #dmroads

Awesome work from our DM Roads team in Melton. Collaborating with Textile Recyclers Australia to minimise their environmental footprint while increasing awareness about the importance of recycling within the City of Melton.” Well done Dinaksha Hemachandra, Alana K. and team!
Recently, we've accumulated a small inventory of used uniforms left behind by employees who have moved on from our business. In hopes of prioritising sustainability, we reached out to Textile Recyclers Australia, located in Ravenhall within the Melton City Council. Textile Recyclers Australia collaborates with various retail brands across the country, diverting pre- or post-worn uniforms and garments away from landfills. This contributes to a circular economy for textiles as a sustainable alternative to new materials. Upon dropping off or shipping uniforms to their facility, the clothing undergoes thorough cleaning and shredding. The resulting fibres are then transformed into new yarn, significantly reducing the environmental impact throughout the process. From there, the fibres can be used towards the production of various new textiles. Since their inception, Textile Recyclers Australia has prevented 783,535 kilograms of garments from ending up in landfills. The team is actively engaged in educating the community through the facilitation of school or council events, university, and tertiary programs, as well as participation in panels and roundtable discussions. The DM Roads Melton team looks forward to maintaining a collaborative partnership with Textile Recyclers Australia, aiming to minimise our environmental footprint while also spreading awareness about the importance of recycling within the City of Melton.” Textile Recyclers Website: https://texrecaus.com/
