Victorian startup Navi Medical Technologies has developed a medical device to help guide clinicians when inserting catheters into newborn babies to administer life-saving therapies. Currently, almost half of these life-saving procedures result in catheters being misplaced, which if left undetected, can lead to life threatening complications. Watch the video below to learn more about how Breakthrough Victoria’s investment is helping Navi to further develop their product and prepare for regulatory approval in future export markets. World Youth Skills Day celebrates the importance of giving young people the skills they need for the jobs they want. Alexia Smith wasn’t sure what skills she needed, or even what job she wanted. The answer came to her through her daily coffee. Her favourite barista’s partner ran a hairdressing salon and was looking for an apprentice. ‘He asked whether I might want to give it a go,’ she said, and she hasn’t looked back since. Alexia has completed her hairdressing apprenticeship. ‘Life is all about trial and error, you’re meant to try different things,’ she says. ‘And if you’re called to do something you just need to do it.’ Read more about Alexia's apprenticeship journey: https://lnkd.in/geHHvd56 #WorldYouthSkillsDay #UnitedNations #Skills #Training #Apprentices #FreeTAFE

We celebrate the enduring strength of First Nations culture in #NAIDOCWeek. And we strengthen our commitment to self-determination. To support First Nations Victorians on their skills and training journeys, we’re waiving the cost of their tuition fees for vocational training. Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders in Victoria can do any government-subsidised vocational qualification at any Skills First training provider free from tuition fees. To search for a Skills First training provider that’s right for you and to talk to them about a fee waiver, visit https://lnkd.in/gxqJJRv #NAIDOC2024
