Davenport Campbell has been at the forefront of innovative design since our beginnings in 1977. Many of the things we take for granted in the workplace and in building design were invented over the years by our creative people. Our purpose is to help businesses transform the way they work, and building owners and developers improve the value of their assets. Today, our ingenuity can be seen in the world leading projects we have delivered for CBA, Bankwest, Telstra, IBM, KPMG, HSBC, Woolworths, Merck Sharp and Dohme and Mirvac. This work is only possible because of the continued investment in our people. We are deeply committed to doing great things with each other and for our clients. We are proud of our high performance culture, achieved through a focus on learning and excellence. With us you’ll get a partnership of clever ideas, a team who will challenge you and bring agile intellect to each project. We'd love to hear from you - let's start a conversation.

This year we celebrate NAIDOC Week by honouring the resilience of Indigenous communities, and we unite to amplify voices that have been silenced. The theme ‘Blak, Loud and Proud’ calls for a commitment to justice and equality, encouraging meaningful dialogue that shows value and respect for Indigenous wisdom. Davenport Campbell is proud to celebrate and recognise the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. #NAIDOC2024 #NAIDOCWeek #BlakLoudProud #IndigenousPride #Solidarity #CulturalHeritage #Unity #PrideAndRespect

One year after moving into their Sydney headquarters, Vocus continue to embrace workplace innovation. The challenges of owning and operating a 25,000km fibre network are balanced by a workplace that enables every employee to focus on their customers. Our primary goal was to support Vocus to operate at their best in this mission critical environment. In a reversal of conventional workplace wisdom, Vocus assigned one third of their Net Lettable Area to spaces dedicated to co-creation. This generous approach continues to encourage face to face collaborationand acknowledges that less and less work is taking place at a workstation. We are proud to see the workplace of this Australian owned company performing the way it was intended to, and the project narrative, 'simply brilliant, with every fibre’, alive and well after 12 months. Over the past 8 months we have supported the Australian Himalayan Foundation and the Rural Education and Environment Development Centre (REED NEPAL) to design and develop new classrooms for one of the most remote secondary schools in Durga Mahalinga, West Nepal. With minimal flat ground in the region, the excavation works are proving to be significant. Meanwhile, locally pressed bricks are helping to avoid the time consuming and expensive process of transporting building materials from Kathmandu. This work has been facilitated by the generous contributions of the Elevate and Educate Donor Circle. This group of likeminded and caring businesses from the property industry have come together to make a difference and support the children of this community to gain access to more inclusive, higher quality education. With the 2024 Growing Regions Program in place, the Australian Government has committed $600 million to support capital works projects that deliver community and economic infrastructure across regional and rural Australia. Australia’s regional areas are an essential part of our economy and integral to our sense of identity and shared values. Our work with the National Indigenous Australians Agency, the Murray Darling Basin Authority, the Department of Community and Justice, the National Disability Insurance Agency and Water NSW allows us to see firsthand the support of the Federal and State Governments for people living in and moving to regional and rural communities. We also support many of our CBD based clients to design and equip regional centres with the same tools and technology as their city-based counterparts. As a strategy for linking regional and CBD locations, Accommodation Guidelines are a great mechanism to establish a common set of organisational principles, metrics, space budgets and workplace elements. These guidelines provide a foundation for the design process while respecting the nuances of each location to provide an equal employee experience across cities and regions. Delta Air Lines introduced the first ‘hub-and-spoke’ model in 1955 as a system to transfer passengers from a central airport hub to their final destination.   Whilst the function of the ‘spoke’ has typically been associated with back of house operations, business continuity sites, service centres and call centres, the relevance of this model continues to grow with the rapid development of hybrid working models and the relocation of city-based knowledge workers to regional centres.   In these models, it is vital that regional workplaces provide the same amenity, technology, security, wellbeing, and connectedness as their CBD hubs. With this intention, spokes can achieve an equal measure of productivity, sense of belonging and cultural cohesion.   And with seven out of ten graduates from regional universities choosing to remain in their community [Regional Universities Network, 2024], successful spoke models are becoming increasingly viable, with the intellectual infrastructure already in place to build upon the growing internal migration within Australia. Over the past eight years, migration from cities to regional areas has increased threefold across Australia [Regional Australia Institute, Big Movers 2023, p.6]. Softening the edges of the cost-of-living crisis, regional hubs can offer improved wellbeing, housing affordability and more time for what matters. Alongside a growing dissatisfaction with city living, these key drivers are boosting internal migration and prompting businesses to strengthen their approach to regional connection. For organisations with headquarters in the CBD and multiple regional locations, how do we encourage an aligned sense of purpose and a commitment to connection across all team locations? This month we will explore the role of organisational culture, career development and workplace equity in regional sites. We’ll focus on what connects teams and their customers when distance has the potential to isolate. #davenportcampbell #workplacedesign #workplacestrategy #regionalshift #rejuvenation #teamconnection #culture #equity

Davenport Campbell is incredibly proud to be a supporter of the Australian Himalayan Foundation. We have focussed our efforts into rebuilding schools in Nepal, funding teacher education programs, and helping lift young women out of poverty. Well done to Neill Johanson and team for all your accomplishments so far, and here's to more!

May 29th, Himalaya Day, is a special day in the Australian Himalayan Foundation's history and heritage, as it commemorates the day in 1953 on which Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay achieved the first ascent of Mt. Everest. It’s almost ten years to the day that I too was on the summit. That moment, for me, set in motion a lasting relationship between the Australian Himalayan Foundation and Davenport Campbell’s with an unbroken commitment to rebuilding schools across Nepal and helping to fund the education of young women in the Solukhumbu region.

It’s National Reconciliation Week and the theme, Now More Than Ever, is a reminder to all of us that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will — and must — continue. Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We all have a role to play when it comes to reconciliation, and in playing our part we collectively build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures, and futures.   Now more than ever, the work continues. In treaty making, in truth-telling, in understanding our history, in education, and in tackling racism. We need connection. We need respect. We need action. And we need change. #NationalReconcilationWeek #NowMoreThanEver #Reconcilation #Inclusion
