The Daniel Francis Murphy story: In 1952 a bright young man by the name of Daniel Francis Murphy was working in a liquor store owned and run by his father Timothy Murphy. Dan looked around one day and decided: I can run this better than my father. So he did, setting up a store only a few hundred meters away. Dan immediately began doing things differently. He bought in bulk and sourced many of his wines directly from overseas. He wrote stories and reviews about his wines, he held social functions and started a wine club. Dan Murphy’s retail concept was simple: offer the most extensive range at the lowest prices possible; add a passionate enthusiasm for what you sell; and you’ve got an unbeatable offer. That's the Dan Murphy tradition that continues today in over 170 stores around Australia. If you have never been to a Dan Murphy’s store, you are in for a rewarding experience. Simply, you will find the largest liquor range in Australia. Over 4000 different wines, local, imported, old and rare... we cater for all tastes. We also have a huge range of craft and imported beers, cider and spirits.

    We would like to welcome our newest team member to the Dan Murphy’s family Daniel Ricciardo. We believe in thinking big, pushing the boundaries and having a good time while doing it, which are qualities that Dan shares. From a young age, Daniel Ricciardo has been living life in the fast lane, both on and off the track. Whilst he is famous for his racing antics, wine has always been his secret passion. A passion which he inherited from his father (this is starting to sound very similar to another founders story named Dan who loved wine). Combining this love for adventure and wine, Ricciardo partnered with St Hugo Wines in 2020 bring us he delightful DR3 Wines. Ricciardo works hands on with the St Hugo Chief Winemaker, Peter Munro and the team at St Hugo. He dives into every aspect of the winemaking process, getting his hands dirty in the Barossa! The partnership is all about crafting wines that reflect Ricciardo’s character and values of precision and passion. With DR3 wines now available nationally at Dan Murphy’s, Dan Ricciardo jumped at the opportunity to help stock the shelves full. We offered him a shelf, he heard a store – so we gave him one. So if you are in Sydney from the 12th to the 14th of July head down to Dan Murphy's Alexandria, or should we say Dan Ricciardo’s, for one weekend only to taste the latest DR3 range of wines and experience everything Dan Murphy’s and Dan Ricciardo’s has to offer.

    👋 A big hello to Dan's Harpley, our 275th store! The first Dan Murphy's to open in Werribee, it's part of a new lakeside neighbourhood in one of Melbourne’s booming residential growth areas. Led by a team of locals with decades of experience at Dan's, this brand new store takes pride of place within the recently-opened Harpley Town Centre and is ready to welcome the community.     What a number! Thanks to the generous donations of our team and customers we have set a new record for Dan Murphy's National GIVIT.org.au Day! We have raised a total of $365,640 that will go directly to helping those facing issues of homelessness right across the country. This includes a $100,000 donation directly from Dan Murphy's. A huge thank you to all of our team members and of course all of our customers who worked so hard to achieve this record!

    💚 NATIONAL GIVIT DAY: HELPING THE HOMELESS THIS WINTER 💚 The wonderful people at GIVIT.org.au do amazing work every day, channelling generosity where it’s needed to support vulnerable people and communities. We’re extremely proud of the passion our store teams have for supporting such important work, raising and donating more than $2.5m to date. Our next National GIVIT Day is this Saturday 22nd June, Dan Murphy’s stores getting creative to raise money to help the homeless this winter. On any given night, 122,494 people in Australia are facing homelessness, and one in seven is a child under 12. If you’re heading to a Dan Murphy’s store this Saturday, we’d love your support. You’ll see our team members donning beanies, hosting BBQs or running raffles, all in the name of lifting the bar for our community. #charity #community #homelessness #givit

These nifty digital price tags might look like regular paper shelf labels, but they are all controlled from a central location and can be updated within three minutes to help us deliver the famous Dan Murphy's Lowest Liquor Price Guarantee in real time! #NobodyBeats By the end of June, all 273 of our stores will be fitted with them, meaning we can say goodbye to tedious paper labels. We’ll save around 37,000 pieces of paper and recoup about 12 staff hours a week per store, freeing up our team to spend more time with customers choosing the right drink for their next occasion.  Cheers to this important milestone - and cheers to technology delivering for our team and customers!
