This year we're excited to be aiming high to increase reusable cup use across STREAT's sites to 40%, but to have the most impact we can't do it alone! Siptember is our annual campaign, run in September that is designed to foster sustainable habits by promoting the use of reusable cups for sipping throughout the month and beyond. 🙇♀️ If you sign up to Siptember we will send you through a ‘toolkit’ of all the assets you need to be involved. This includes posters, weekly impact reports and any useful information you need to host a successful Siptember campaign. 🥤 Last year we prevented 1,200 disposable coffee cups from going to landfill. This extrapolates to preventing more than 17,000 disposable coffee cups from going to landfill annually. 🖊️ Sign up as a hospitality or corporate business to join our campaign. We’re SO proud to report that over 80% of the young people that come through our Youth Support Services program had no further contact with the police whilst working with the Les Twentyman Foundation, showcasing the incredible impact we are able to have in young people’s lives! 👏😍 Our Youth Support Service (YSS) is here for young people who need a little extra support to make positive changes in their lives. Our dedicated youth workers build strong relationships with both young people and their families, guiding them through tough issues and avoiding risky behaviours. 🙌 In 2023-24, our State Government-funded YSS program supported 105 young people, but due to high demand, we assisted an additional 40 young people. These additional 40 young people were funded through the generosity and kindness of the Foundation’s donors. "I liked working alongside the corporate teams who came in for their team building days, too; it gave me that bit of social confidence back. My past experience with supervision helped me - I used to work in the mines for about four years, supervising cleaning and kitchen teams, and I was a housekeeping manager for a while too - so it was good to have the opportunity to be in that space again. I’d become so socially isolated the past few years, having that bit of interaction in the workplace was really significant. It felt like really important work too, what we did there; at the time, I was living in a refuge, so I knew firsthand the impact of having a meal at the end of the day that's nice, and easy, and tasty. Victorian carers receive the lowest rate of Care Allowance in Australia, forcing many of our carers to access emergency support just to cover the basics. Our kinship and foster carers deserve a Care Allowance that supports them to cover the cost-of-living expenses of children in their care. As the peak voice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in Victoria, VACCA provides Foster Care and Kinship Care programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people in out-of-home care.
