"With my 3 girls and my partner, I try to incorporate Aboriginal language into everyday conversation where I can, to teach them some of the words that they can use." During #NAIDOCWeek, Cricket ACT caught up with Wiradjuri man Djali Bloomfield to chat about cricket, his work the importance of celebrating the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories, and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth. Our staff at Cricket ACT recently took time out to yarn with Wiradjuri man Djali Bloomfield. Djali, hailing from Weston Creek Molonglo Cricket Club, is a well-known and valued member of our local cricket community. He's played at the representative level locally, been a member of the Australian Indigenous Squad and is also a member of the Cricket ACT Aboriginal Advisory Committee. Djali attended a recent staff morning tea sharing his story and culture, and we followed up with a Q&A to share with our broader cricket community during NAIDOC Week. Learn more about what NAIDOC Week means to Djali and what we can all do to gain a greater understanding of First Nations culture ⬇ https://lnkd.in/gR9UJbNZ #cricketact #naidocweek2024
