'Music Videos and frozen fingers', w/ Tas Wilson (AKA @corporategiant) Check out this little slice of goodness with Blake Lisk and Tas Wilson getting down to business on becoming a turning passion into a career and a near frostbite experience. Blake: Hey Tas! Thanks for bringing us some of your story and digging into your life as a full time creative. Okay so, where do you live and what do you do? Tas: Blakey, no sweat man! I'm currently living in Mooball in the Northern Rivers. It's a real country setup, just living in a cabin in the bush with my girlfriend fully off grid, it's pretty classic. I make a lot of music videos, some design work here and there and I'm a touring musician as well. Blake: How did this all begin? And when did you feel like you had enough momentum to focus purely on creative work as a job? Tas:  I've been making videos since I was pretty young, you know just like ones of mates surfing and skating and that sorta thing. I started working at a post-production company after I finished uni, which was so great and I got to learn the ins and outs of the industry, it's funny how much more you learn being involved in an entry level role rather than at uni haha. For me uni was a waste of time but anyway. I was at the post-production company for about 3 years and it was during that time I joined a band and that was taking off, so I was having to take more and more time off work to be on tour. It was great, but I felt bad about missing so much work, my boss was such a legend though and would try and make it work for me but it eventually got to a point where I just had to leave to do the touring thing, it was one or the other. That's when I started filmmaking and design work on the side as a freelancer. It just kinda snowballed from there which was a real dream.  Blake: Tell us about a wild shoot you've been on... Tas: One of the harder ones that comes to mind was recently, I flew down to Jindabyne to shoot a Music Video. This was just after Sydney locked down and it was really touch and go. Anyway it was just me and the artist, no crew whatsoever as the budget didn't allow for it, and it ended up dumping while we were shooting and so it looked amazing. But it was ridiculously cold, I was definitely underprepared clothing wise. We were shooting all day and I was soaked all over and had lost all feeling in my limbs especially hands and feet. Changing over rolls in the snow with hands that didn't work with a wet jacket over my head to protect the bolex from the snow, shivering and shaking all over the place, definitely one of the harder things I've ever had to do. Hats off to the artist as well, because she agreed to get in Lake Jindabyne at sunrise with a stiff wind blowing, honestly don't know how she did it.
