Side-by-side raising money for the Magpie Nest Program 🤝 This weekend, the Collingwood Foundation, together with the Club’s community partners Coles Group and the The Salvation Army Australia (Project 614), are raising funds for the Magpie Nest Program. In an incredible show of support, Commanding Officer of the Salvation Army, Major Brendan Nottle will be sleeping rough at AIA Vitality Centre to shine a light on Victorians doing it tough. Funds raised during the dedicated round will go towards supporting the Magpie Nest Café; a first point of call for many of Melbourne’s homeless, and the Magpie Nest Program which provides housing for those who are experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence or and some who have recently left incarceration. A huge thank-you to the Coles Group who will be matching donations across the entire weekend of Round 20 👏 🤍 | https://magpi.es/donate 📝 | https://magpi.es/3WCyFr2

There are very few things dual-sport star Jess Duffin hasn’t achieved or encountered in a career that dates back to 2006, and coaching can now be ticked off that list too. Things started in the mid 2000s when the now 34-year-old began her cricketing career for Victoria as a teenager, impressing in multiple disciplines. By 2009, she made her international debut for the Aussies – part of 117 appearances for her country across all three formats – during which she won multiple World Cups alongside the likes of Ellyse Perry and Meg Lanning. But when the AFLW’s inception came in 2017, Duffin was quick to switch to football – a sport she had played during her formative years until a lack of pathways for girls through the 1990s barred her from continuing to play the game She was selected by the Pies in the maiden AFLW Draft with pick 75 and played in the inaugural game of the league between the Pies and the Blues. Now, she finds herself in a new role as our Backs Development Coach ahead of the 2024 AFLW season. Read the full story 📝https://lnkd.in/gX4SkJke

Tew Jiath's parents were born in what is now South Sudan. A war-ravaged nation in Central Africa. They escaped the Sudan Civil War on foot to a refugee camp in Ethiopia, where Jiath was born. Isaac Quaynor was born in Australia and grew up in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne supporting the Pies. He is fiercely proud of his heritage. His father was born and raised in Ghana, in Western Africa before moving to Australia over 20 years ago where he married Isaac’s mother. From the day they met, Quaynor and Jiath shared a special bond through their heritage and similarities in their culture. Read more about their special bond ahead of Jiath's AFL debut this weekend 📝 https://lnkd.in/gFEXZpvf
