There's a clear link between nutrition and mental well-being. Research shows that healthier eating positively impacts our mood, concentration, performance and productivity. Workers in the industrial & logistics sector face challenges accessing healthy eating options and enjoying the benefits associated with a nutritious diet. That's why we're proud to be partnering with Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds to deliver the Nutrition in Sheds pilot program. Advised by the National Nutrition Foundation, the program is focused on improving the health and mental well-being of this cohort of workers and is supported by our tenant customers Inghams Group Limited and Metcash and partner Morsl. The canteen at Metcash’s Distribution Facility in SA, and Ingham’s morsl micro-market at MidWest Logistics Hub in Victoria, will feature a range of healthy food options with Healthier Choices badges highlighting food, drinks and snacks that are more nutritious. This makes it easier and quicker for their teams to make healthy choices that will enhance their mental and physical health. With October’s Mental Health Month shining a light on the importance of supporting improved mental health outcomes for our people, customers and communities, it’s great to see this initiative from Healthy Heads to provide expert-guided, practical support all year round for workers in the industrial and logistics sector.

It was a pleasure to join our long time tenant customer Coles Group for the official opening of their new state-of-the-art facility at Midwest Logistics Hub in Truganina, Melbourne. As one of our largest customers across the Group, it’s been a pleasure partnering with Coles on delivering a next-generation facility that incorporates Ocado Group’s market-leading automation technology, designed to enhance efficiencies and consumer certainty in an environment increasingly dominated by online ordering. Today marks the official opening of our first automated Customer Fulfilment Centre in Victoria, bringing together world-class technology and automation to enhance the shopping experience for Coles Online customers in greater Melbourne. It’s the first of two CFCs to launch this year as part of a $400 million partnership with global leader in online grocery transformation, Ocado Group. The Victorian CFC’s delivery catchment will span the growing Melbourne region from Ballan in the west across to Bunyip in the east, and from Beveridge in the north down to the Mornington Peninsula. Leah Weckert, Coles Group CEO, said; "Today's opening signals a major step change in our online grocery deliveries that will offer our customers greater choice, better availability, improved freshness and more flexible delivery options." The CFC will employ more than 1,000 team members, including drivers and fulfillment roles that will use high-tech packing equipment, and there will be a fleet of more than 200 home delivery vans specially designed with dual compartments to ensure fresher products while reducing emissions and a side door to make it easier and safer for delivery drivers to unload. Coles thanks its building partners and consultants from Charter Hall, FDC Construction & Fitout, TMX Transform and Accenture Australia for developing, building and managing the complex Truganina building project to completion.

Last week, we came together with our tenant customer GWA Group Limited for Hard Hat Day 2024 at GWA’s Prestons facility. The event raised funds to support the Property Industry Foundation’s Haven Project, which builds and renovates homes for homeless youth in Australia. With 44,000 young Australians without a place to sleep each night, PIF's mission to provide safe and secure accommodation is crucial. You can still donate to support Hard Hat Day here: https://lnkd.in/gaaEQVvd A big thank you to everyone who attended or donated online, and to GWA for helping to host the event. This event is a great example of how we can make a meaningful impact in our communities through partnership. From the increased cost of living to the housing crisis and more, it’s no surprise that many Australians are carrying a heavier mental load. In fact, 72% of Australians are reporting elevated levels of distress, which means we all know someone who is impacted. This R U OK? Day, Charter Hall is hosting activations at our 242 Exhibition Street, Chifley and Southern Cross assets to highlight the importance of having meaningful conversations that include asking R U OK? any day of the year, and to nurture the sense of community within our assets. In our own offices, we’re inviting our people to come together for a cup of MOOD tea, a scone and a chat. All profits from MOOD tea go toward supporting youth mental health. There is a clear link between a sense of community and mental health. Through our social partnerships, activations and precincts, we actively create opportunities for community connection and better mental and physical well-being for our people, customers and communities.

Our scale continues to be one of our greatest strengths in delivering meaningful progress toward decarbonisation and addressing the risks and opportunities of a changing climate. We’ve made significant progress toward our Net Zero by 2025 target for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. Through energy efficiency, electrification and renewable electricity, we’ve reduced these emissions by more than 70% since our baseline year. And with 77% of our 80MW of onsite solar providing clean energy to tenants, we’re also cutting downstream Scope 3 emissions while supporting our tenants to reduce their operating costs. In FY24, we set the foundation to achieve many milestones this year and are focused on updating our targets as we look beyond the horizon. We continue to leverage our operating model and create positive outcomes for our customers, communities and the climate now and into the future. To learn more about our progress toward Net Zero, read our Sustainability Report here: https://lnkd.in/dV5qANUf

It was a pleasure to sit down in conversation with Alyssa Healy last week, ahead of the cricket season kicking off later this month. She brought a fresh perspective to the conversation around preparing for a new season, sharing insights with our people on staying mentally fit and focused, as we head into our own new season - a new financial year and our next growth phase.

Last week, we celebrated Wear It Purple Day with festivities across our Southern Cross Precinct and 242 Exhibition Street locations. At Southern Cross Lane, tenant customers and visitors were treated to a fabulous performance by the talented Freida Commitment. Freida created an incredible buzz with comedy, lip-synching and dance, all to highlight the importance of providing support for young people in the rainbow community. Guests also enjoyed giant lawn bowls – painted purple of course! Meanwhile, at 242 Exhibition Street, tenants were serenaded with smooth tunes from acoustic guitarist and singer, Belle Lynch, and were surprised with Cadbury chocolate treats. We are proud to stand as allies to the LGBTQ community and to nurture an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and supported. Visibility plays a critical role in building acceptance, and we thank all of those who participated and positively contributed to our Wear It Purple Day celebrations.
