Last week we were officially awarded the feasibility licence for our 3GW 'Aurora Green' offshore wind farm in Victoria! ๐Ÿ’ก ๐ŸŒ ย  Aurora Green will be located at least 25 km off the coast between Mcloughlins Beach and Seaspray. ย  We're excited to reach this important milestone which will allow us to conduct a detailed assessment in order to progress the project. We look forward to working with the Gippsland community, First Nations people, local businesses and industry during this important feasibility period. ๐Ÿ“ You can read more https://lnkd.in/gj5Aadjs

How can we unlock the offshore wind revolution in Australia? Anil Chanana, our Australia country manager, discussed this topic on a recent panel at Australia Wind Energy 2024, looking at how: ๐ŸŒฑ The offshore wind industry in Australia is in its early stages, but nonetheless at an exciting moment, with new developments including our Blue Mackerel North and Spinifex projects. โœ… Technical studies have shown that Australia has some of the best wind resources in the world, with the ability to support 2,000 GW of power. ๐ŸŒŠย Collaboration will be critical in overcoming current challenges, which include unique ocean conditions, environmental planning and approval processes and the need for significant supply chain development. โš–๏ธ The commitment to clear and ambitious offshore wind energy targets by the Victorian Government is encouraging, and further regulatory incentives will help drive investment, jobs, economic development and ultimately deliver the capacity and supply necessary for a successful transition to renewables. ๐Ÿค Our wholly-owned subsidiary Parkwind and collaborator Alinta Energy have submitted a feasibility license to the Offshore Infrastructure Registrar in Victoria, Australia. โžก๏ธThis is a crucial next step for the proposed 1GW Spinifex offshore wind farm. ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ It's an exciting second milestone in our ambitions to scale renewables in Australia, after we were granted a feasibility license for the Blue Mackerel North project earlier this year. โฒ๏ธWhile we wait for the feasibility license to be granted Parkwind will continue to work with Alinta Energy on pre-license award work such as visual aerial surveys for marine life, wind monitoring, and stakeholder engagement where appropriate. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ Itโ€™s official! We have been formally awarded a feasibility licence for our #GippslandDawn Offshore Wind Project! Today, Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen announced that following consultation with the First Nations, a number of offshore wind projects in the Gippsland area of Victoria, including our Gippsland Dawn project, have been granted a feasibility licence ๐ŸŽ‰. Pierre-Antoine Tetard, Chief Commercial Officer and Executive VP APAC at BlueFloat Energy, is visiting Australia to celebrate this milestone and engage with key stakeholders. Using bottom-fixed technology, Gippsland Dawn will have the capacity to generate up to 2.1 GW of electricity โ€“ thatโ€™s enough to power more than one million homes! The project marks a new dawn of #energygeneration for Gippsland and Australia, aspiring to make a significant contribution to the Australian government's plan to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. Itโ€™s a first! We have been granted exclusive seabed rights for an offshore development project close to the Kent Islands in the Bass Strait, Australiaโ€™s first designated offshore wind zone. An exciting development which marks our entry into the country's offshore wind market. The lease weโ€™ve been awarded can potentially host a wind farm with a capacity of up to 2 gigawatts. This would allow us to power the equivalent of up to 1.6 million Australian homes with green electricity. Subject to the planning and approvals process, secured offtake as well as grid connection, commissioning is expected in the first half of the 2030s.
