    Our seven-person team has been doing the mahi in British Columbia, Canada for a couple of days now, using their specialist skills to help fight the wildfires raging across the province 🔥 There are currently 996 active fires in Canada, with 389 in British Columbia. 📸: The Australasian contingent in British Columbia. In order to become future-ready, women in the emergency management sector need the right kind of support so they can get a seat at the table and help make change.     A contingent of 116 fire and emergency specialists from Australia and New Zealand are heading to Canada following a request for assistance from the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre. The first group left this morning from Sydney, with the remainder departing on Sunday. The Australasian contingent will support their Canadian counterparts for up to five weeks.     The National Resource Sharing Centre has responded to a request for assistance from the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre (CIFFC). Canada is currently experiencing significant wildfire activity, and firefighters and equipment in every jurisdiction in Canada have been put to use. 115 Australasian incident management personnel are travelling to British Columbia and Alberta to assist with wildfire suppression activities. The first contingent will be departing on Friday.
