Austal Australia has delivered the eighth of ten Evolved Cape-class Patrol Boats (ECCPB’s) under contract to the Royal Australian Navy. The vessel, ADV Cape Schanck (313), is the eighth ECCPB to be constructed and delivered from Austal’s Henderson, Western Australia shipyard in four and half years. Austal Limited Chief Executive Officer Paddy Gregg said Cape Schanck highlights Western Australia’s naval shipbuilding capability, productivity and reliability, and Austal Australia’s successful collaboration with industry and project partners to deliver eight patrol boats in four and half years. “Austal Australia, with the help of our valued supply chain, industry and project partners, have now delivered eight Evolved Capes to the Royal Australian Navy in just four and half years. That’s an outstanding track record of productivity, with one 58 metre patrol boat delivered (on average) every 6 to 7 months, Mr Gregg said. “We were awarded the Evolved Capes contract in May 2020 and now, less than 5 years later, we have delivered eight boats, despite the challenges of the COVID pandemic and in addition to the (now) 24 Guardian-class Patrol Boats we’re also delivering to Defence Australia. “The Western Australian naval shipbuilding industry should be incredibly proud of this impressive performance, which clearly demonstrates the Henderson Defence Precinct’s capability, productivity, and reliability. Austal Australia, and our 200 supply chain partners are successfully contributing to the National Naval Shipbuilding Enterprise and Australia’s sovereign capability through the delivery of the Evolved Cape-class Patrol Boat Project." “Our congratulations to the Royal Australian Navy on the delivery of ADV Cape Schanck and sincere thanks to the Austal Australia team, the Department of Defence and our supply chain partners in Western Australia and across the country, for their continued support.” Learn more at https://lnkd.in/g7MA-iaY #austal #austalaustralia #ausnavy #evolvedcapeclass #patrolboats #defence #defenceindustry #hendersondefenceprecinct #westernaustralia #sovereigncapability

Austal is proud to be a Gold Sponsor of the Interferry 2024 Conference, on now in Marrakech, Morocco. Aligning with this year's conference theme of 'Safety, Security and Sustainability', the Austal #team's key messaging to the hundreds of delegates gathered from around the world is flexible fuel and technology solutions. Austal is partnering with ferry operators now, to ensure vessels designed and built today are ready for tomorrow. If you're at the conference be sure to say hello to Simon Smith, Luke Pretlove and Mike Wake and learn more about Austal's successful partnerships over the past 35 years, delivering customised high-speed ferry solutions for individual operator requirements. If you're not lucky enough to be in Marrakech, take a look at a new video featuring Austal's Head of Research and Development Sam Abbott talking about the need for new generation ferries to be flexible; both in terms of the maritime fuels that they use and their ability to accept or be reconfigured for future technologies. “Every ferry operator is different, and looking to differentiate from their competitors, so why should we expect high-speed ROPAX ferries to be the same? The future high-speed ROPAX ferry market has to be made up of different maritime fuels and technologies to suit the different requirements of ferry operators." Congratulations to the Austal USA #team on breaking ground on the new submarine module manufacturing facility at the Mobile, Alabama shipyard. This new building, scheduled to be fully operational in late 2026, will significantly increase Austal USA’s capacity to support the US Navy Submarine Industrial Base (SIB), with over 34,000 square metres of indoor manufacturing space purpose-built to manufacture submarine modules. The production from this building will support the U.S. Navy’s goal of delivering one Columbia-class and two Virginia-class submarines annually. This new project, combined with the recent groundbreaking for another manufacturing building, represent over US$750M in expansion of Austal USA’s Mobile facility. In July 2024, Austal USA started construction on a new assembly building to enable the erection of large steel modules for US Navy and U.S. Coast Guard ships, including the Offshore Patrol Cutter (OPC) and TAGOS-25 programs. The building will occupy four and a half acres providing close to 18,000 square metres of new indoor manufacturing space. This project will include a shiplift system that features an articulated lifting platform approximately 137 metres long by 38 metres wide. The shiplift will provide a safe and reliable system to launch ships as they are completed in the assembly buildings and will also enable bringing ships back on the land-side facility for repair and maintenance. Upon completion of these new buildings, the Austal USA manufacturing facility will include a steel panel line, two module manufacturing facilities and seven assembly bays, set over 180 acres with over 139,000 square metres of indoor manufacturing space. #austal #austalUSA #USNavy #submarine #manufacturing #AUKUS

Austal Australia has delivered the 21st Guardian-class Patrol Boat (GCPB) to Defence Australia. The vessel, Te Mataili III, was officially accepted by the Australian Government by The Honourable Matt Keogh MP, Minister for Defence Personnel and Veterans Affairs, and then gifted to the Pacific Island nation of Tuvalu, represented by Prime Minister, The Honourable Feleti Teo, at a handover ceremony held at HMAS Stirling in Western Australia yesterday. Te Mataili III replaces Te Mataili II, a Guardian-class Patrol Boat that was gifted to Tuvalu in 2019 and operated successfully until damaged beyond economic repair during twin cyclones that hit Vanuatu in 2023. Austal Limited Chief Executive Officer Paddy Gregg said the delivery of the 21st Guardian-class patrol boat continued to highlight the efficiency of the Austal Australia team, delivering the Pacific Patrol Boat Replacement Project SEA3036-1, for the Commonwealth of Australia. “Austal Australia has now delivered 21 Guardian-class Patrol Boats in just five years, which is a fantastic achievement and great demonstration of the capability and efficiency of the Western Australian naval shipbuilding industry,” Mr Gregg said. “For five years now, we have been collaborating successfully with our supply chain and project partners (including the Department of Defence), industry stakeholders and Royal Australian Navy to deliver this important, sovereign capability-building project for Australia and our Pacific Island neighbours. “Our thanks yet again to everyone who has contributed and continues to contribute to the success of the Pacific Patrol Boat Replacement Project,” Mr Gregg added. We Did It! The Austal Giving #team have completed #theLONGrun 2024, supporting the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and raising money to help make prostate cancer history. Collectively, the team has walked, run or ridden an impressive 2,122.9 kilometres over the month of September - and thanks to our many generous sponsors, we have raised an amazing total of A$23,927.88 – the second highest total of any team in Australia! Congratulations to the Austal Giving team on an incredible result and a fantastic effort; especially Monica Berryman, from Austal Darwin who individually raised $16,043.10 - and Jeremy Griffiths and Mostyn McNeill who both clicked over 300km, individually. Arguably the greatest value we have all gained from #theLONGrun is the raised awareness of Prostate Cancer, it’s impact on our families and friends, and how we can help. Did you know; · Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia. · Prostate cancer is the second most common cause of death from cancer in Australian men. · 72 Australian men are diagnosed with Prostate Cancer each day, and more than 10 men will die, each day, from the disease. · Your risk of prostate cancer increases as you get older. · If your father or brother have been diagnosed, your risk doubles · If 2 or more close family members have been diagnosed, your risk increases five-fold. · If you have family history of breast or ovarian cancer, and/or BRCA1 or 2 genes, your risk is also greater. · Prostate Cancer often has no symptoms at its earliest stages. As it grows, symptoms include difficulty or pain when urinating, pain in the hips or lower back, or blood in your urine. If you’re a man over 50, ask your GP for a ‘PSA test’ annually. If you have family history, start testing annually from the age of 40. It’s not scary, it’s a simple blood test that takes 30 seconds!
