Meet STEMM legend and AusNet Distribution Network Controller, Stephanie Astbury. Steph is of 11 women WORK180 asked, "why STEMM is a great place to grow your career." 🚀 According to Steph, self-believe is key, “if more young women back themselves that they can do hard things (regardless of what their school report cards say) and maintain an open mind about careers in STEMM, we may start to see a shift in the numbers coming in.” We couldn’t agree more! AusNet is proud to be a WORK180 endorsed employer, committed to creating a great workplace for women. Good design matters! 🙌 Congratulations to Monash University’s Digital Energy Futures project which has picked up the Gold Winner accolade from Good Design Australia for its research into the future #energy needs of Australian households. We know very little about future everyday life, but the Digital Energy Futures project helps us imagine and plan for multiple scenarios by creating and bringing to life visions of possible energy #futures. It’s the most extensive sociological study of energy #demand and consumers’ energy futures ever conducted nationwide! AusNet is proud to have collaborated with Monash University and industry partners Ausgrid and Energy Consumers Australia on this ground-breaking, three-year, $2.3m research project. Want a crystal ball into our possible energy future? 🔮 Read more about the project on the Good Design website: https://lnkd.in/gv2AXFvK

We're pleased to share our first Energy Charter Disclosure Report which outlines our performance and progress against The Energy Charter principles and our efforts to become more customer-focused in all that we do. Distilling our performance across AusNet’s three networks and contestable business into one short report has been no easy feat! As the #energytransition accelerates, keeping our #customers and #communities at the heart of our planning is crucial. We look forward to continuing our journey towards better energy outcomes for all. Read our Energy Charter Disclosure Report: https://lnkd.in/g62wV8Dd

Who would have thought that being covered in mud could be so much fun? Our volunteers planted an incredible 1,300 trees to help Cannibal Creek Catchment Landcare Group in Tonimbuk #revegetate this formerly bushfire ravaged area in #Gippsland. Not even a cold overcast day and an incredibly rain-soaked muddy field could stop our volunteers, with an amazing lunch provided by the lovely landowners very much appreciated. Everyone was covered in mud, a gumboot was lost in hilarious circumstances (what happens at volunteering stays at volunteering 🤣), but it was a brilliant opportunity for our people to use their volunteer day to make a difference! #bringtheenergy #corporatevolunteering Landcare Australia Daniel Schaeffner, Shanice Vishniakov, William Gubbins, Blake S., Sue Brown, Sarsha Wood, Kathy Burgstahler Michelle Kelman, Casey Jenkinson and Chris Dove

We’re supporting energy resilience in regional towns across Victoria. The Community Microgrids and Sustainable Energy Program is now providing #microgrid technology to help support communities experiencing outages due to severe #weather and network events. Following the 2019-2020 summer bushfires we joined with Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action, Mondo and RACV Solar to design microgrid solutions for impacted communities in Corryong, Omeo and Mallacoota. Now #solar panels, #batteries, hot water #heatpumps and #generators are installed on more than 80 homes and community hubs in these areas which will switch to microgrid technologies when stored local energy is needed most ☀️🔋♻️ For more information on how it works, watch the video below or visit: https://lnkd.in/gmKPUzaX

Team building at its best! Building bikes for charity 🚲🔧🙌 Our AusNet Contestable Connections leadership team were in #Gippsland last week and joined by Heather Baird, founder of A Better Life For Foster Kids, Inc. The team learnt about the incredible work this Gippsland-based charity does supporting #children and #carers in the out-of-home-care system. We then engaged in a fun activity to build #bikes which were then donated to Heather’s charity to go to local children. If you would like to learn more about the work Heather and her team do in Gippsland and around Australia, visit their website https://lnkd.in/ggrwX5pr or stay up to date with their Facebook page https://lnkd.in/gkN8H8du.

Some of our AusNet women were lucky enough to attend the inaugural Women in Energy & Renewables Summit in Sydney this week. They had some great conversations around energy demand, capacity forecast and strategies to advance the #energytransition. Yet in 2024 we're still having conversations about driving more #diversity, #equity and #inclusion in our industry. It was a great opportunity to gather with other women across energy and the #renewables sector to learn from the best and drive change. Looking forward to this becoming a regular fixture on the event calendar! Ivy Lun Ana Ruiz Juinn Siew Tao Priya V.
