A membership based, for-purpose organisation that supports companies to advance the inclusion of people with disability.

About us

OUR VISION A disability confident Australia. OUR PURPOSE To build employer capability and be the employer voice to government, industry and community to achieve the inclusion of people with disability. OUR VALUES Collaborative - We actively participate, we actively listen, and we proactively seek out and share information. Open - We have courageous conversations, say when we need help and communicate authentically and respectfully. Flexible - We explore new ways of doing things, we learn from experience, and we adapt to changing circumstances. Ambitious - We celebrate successes, demonstrate respect, accessibility and inclusion at all times and we actively strive to maximise AND’s impact. The Australian Disability Network (ADN) is a not for profit organisation funded by its members to take a leadership role in advancing the equitable inclusion of people with disability in all aspects of business. We assist our members to reap the business benefits of employing people with disability, and welcoming customers with disability. We are not an employment agency and do not find jobs for people with disability - we work on the employer-side to improve internal systems and procedures to ensure they are accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities. Approximately 20% of the Australian population has a disability - that's one in every five people in Australia. Ensuring your organisation is disability confident isn't just the "right thing to do" - it also makes very good business sense. Through the delivery of unique products and services, we assist organisations to build skills and confidence in relation to people with disability as employees, customers and other stakeholders. Disability inclusion makes good business sense. This is evident from our own success. We came 2nd in the 2023 AFR BOSS Best Places to Work list - Government, Education and Not-for-Profit category.

I’ve had the privilege of participating in the PACE program facilitated by Australian Disability Network and supported by my employer, Coles Group. Through the program I had the opportunity to mentor an individual with disability in areas such as developing interview skills, professional networks, and increasing confidence. This meaningful experience has yielded personal and professional growth for my mentee and me. I hope my story may inspire you and your team to make a difference in the lives of people with disabilities. https://lnkd.in/g9bka7vq Thank you Coles Group for this amazing opportunity and thank you Anita Devereaux for your support.  #disabilityinclusion #inclusiveleadership #proudlycoles

  • In Australian Disability Network's recent Disability Data at Work report in partnership with Diversity Council Australia Ltd, we highlighted the challenges faced by employees with disability and the critical role of data in fostering more inclusive workplaces. We identified organisational locks preventing employees from sharing their disability status and keys which enable employees to share their disability status: 🔒 Fear of discrimination and harassment. 🔑 Get proactive on discrimination and harassment. 🔒 Impact sharing might have on career and leadership opportunities. 🔑 Redefine what “success” looks like in your organisation. 🔒 Concerns about data privacy and safety. 🔑 Build a culture of data privacy and safety. 🔒 Lack of disability awareness and confidence in organisations. 🔑 Get proactive on building disability awareness and confidence. “The safe and respectful collection of disability data is essential to increase the workforce participation rate of people with disability. We can’t fix what we don’t understand. “This in-depth report provides invaluable insights that will help employers create a more diverse, inclusive, and productive workplace.” - Australian Disability Network CEO, Corene Strauss GAICD. Australian Disability Network had a wonderful turnout for the quarterly member roundtable with over 270 members joining in! 🌟 This month’s roundtable focused on Neurodiversity and how to support neurodiverse staff in the workplace. We were joined by Andrew Baird, ANZ Spectrum Program Manager, and co-chair of Wired Differently Employee Network at ANZ, Zoë Field, Oceania Disability Inclusion and Workplace Adjustment Lead at EY and Nerida Weller, Operations Administrator, ACE Advisor ACE Employee Network at Jacobs Group. Each presenter shared information on what their organisations are doing in this area, and then participated in a panel discussion answering questions from our members. 🗨️ “Our program (ANZ Spectrum Program) participants have a support consultant who provides different levels of support to each person and that is dependent on what they need.” – Andrew. 🗨️ “We have introduced the option of an accessibility passport, so this confidential individualised document enables people to take charge of the privacy of any adjustments that they have made … Our people experience an increased sense of inclusion and belonging, and also a reduction in stress and anxiety.” – Zoe. 🗨️ “Earlier this year, we’re very, very proud to be selected by AusDN as the winner of the Disability Employee Network of the Year … A group of passionate ACE (Access Connect Empower) Employee Network members actually created a Neurodiversity in the Workplace Guide, which has been widely promoted in the organisation.” – Nerida. • Last week, Australian Disability Network organised a networking morning tea to connect with our Canberra members! Our Relationship Managers, Ryllonna Luedey, Mackenzie Small, Mia Lončar, and Sarah Driscoll, enjoyed this opportunity to meet with members face-to-face and discuss their disability access and inclusion objectives. Jaala Hinchcliffe, Deputy Secretary of Department of Parliamentary Services gave the opening speech. This was followed by a presentation by our team, sharing insights on our recently launched Disability Data at Work research developed in partnership with Diversity Council Australia Ltd. The rest of the event provided an opportunity for members to meet with each other, share stories, ideas and best practices used in their unique work environments. A special thank you to Department of Parliamentary Services for hosting us at Parliament House.
