National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.  🖤 💛 ❤️ 💙 🤍 💚   This year’s theme, Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud, celebrates the unyielding spirit of Indigenous communities and invites all to stand in solidarity, amplifying the voices that have long been silenced.   The fire represents the enduring strength and vitality of Indigenous cultures, passed down through generations despite the challenges faced. It is a symbol of connection to the land, to each other, and to the rich tapestry of traditions that define Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.   As we honour this flame, we kindle the sparks of pride and unity, igniting a renewed commitment to acknowledging, preserving, and sharing the cultural heritage that enriches our nation. Acclaimed Australian composer and APRA AMCOS Member Liza Lim has been named Composer of the Year at the 2024 OPUS KLASSIK Awards, Germany’s prestigious classical music honours. Lim was recognised for her work Annunciation Triptych, a three-part, 50-minute orchestral cycle commissioned by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the WDR Sinfonieorchester and the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks. ✨ Warmest congratulations!

Submissions for the Screen Music Awards 2024 close July 2! This year, we introduce three exciting new award categories: - Emerging Composer of the Year - Best Music for a Video Game or Other Interactive Media - Best Music for Unscripted & Reality Television Series PLUS, the Best Music for a Television Series category has been expanded into two distinct categories: Television Comedy and Television Drama.   Screen music composers: submit your entries online by July 2.

BIGSOUND_AU has unveiled the first 70 acts set for their Brisbane takeover in September. PekingDuk’s Keli Holiday and Y.O.G.A projects, Alex the Astronaut, dust, Dear Seattle, Sly Withers, Stand Atlantic, Gretta Ray, PEPTALK, total tommy, Noah Dillon and many more are headed to Fortitude Valley for the festival from 3 to 6 September. Tickets are now on sale, with special pricing for anyone under 25 or for tickets purchased before 31 July. 💫 Big shout out to Nashville-based member, songwriter Jordan Dozzi, who has co-written Post Malone’s latest instant hit ‘Pour Me A Drink’, featuring Blake Shelton. He collaborated with Post Malone, Louis Bell, John Byron, Charlie Handsome and Rocky Block on the track, which is currently at #1 in the Spotify Top Songs Debut US charts, and #3 globally. It’s been a massive couple of years for Jordan, who has fast become one of the most in-demand songwriters in Nashville, following collaborations with Dylan Scott, Jake Owen, Larry Fleet, Chase Matthew, ERNEST and more. Dozzi co-wrote Morgan Wallen and Eric Church’s Man Made A Bar, which landed at #15 on the Billboard Hot 100, and won 'Top Billboard 200 Album’. He’s also credited on Seaforth and Jordan Davis’s APRA Award-nominated track, Good Beer. 👏 Congratulations!
