About us

Aesop was established in Melbourne in 1987. Our objective has always been to formulate skin, body and hair care products of the finest quality, as well as fragrance and accessories for the self and home. All Aesop products are vegan. We do not test on animals and only use ingredients with a proven record of safety, efficacy and sustainability. We are on a journey to reduce our footprint on the planet that generously sustains us. So far, our progress has led to Aesop becoming a certified B Corp™. Alongside our commercial activities, we explore and support the arts as an avenue through which to inspire, learn and communicate. We are headquartered across two locations—Melbourne and London—with satellite offices and stores in many parts of the world, including New York, Paris, Tokyo and Hong Kong. Aesop has carefully cultivated a work environment in which our employees are constantly challenged to do their best. Our company is determinedly creative, intelligent and progressive, and nurtures these qualities by employing people who share our passionate interest in design, innovation, and incisive enquiry across all fields. Just as the ingredients in our products are carefully selected for their unique characteristics, so too are the individuals who work with us around the world – we value working with those who can bring a wealth of life experience and inspired ideas to our table.

Our latest collection of Gift Kits draws on our long-standing reverence for the cinema, which has influenced everything from the formulation of certain Aesop products to the design of many of our spaces. Take for instance Breathless, a hydrating body oil named after a certain New Wave masterpiece, or our stores designed in partnership with Luca Guadagnino—to name but a couple of examples. Featured in a series of cinematic vignettes—as screened below—these aromatic offerings comprise an all-star-cast of formulations for the skin, senses and surrounds, housed in boxes that carry richly hued designs inspired by aged celluloid film. ‘Embracing a new chapter’ is the theme of our latest Impact Report. Yet rather than being the start of a new story, it is a continuation of one we began 37 years ago, one shaped by a constant consideration of people and planet. The report reveals how our growth has increasingly allowed us to turn consideration into action. Discover the full report here: https://lnkd.in/gq4WvG5C

Another logo, but an important one. Aesop has been recertified as a B Corp™, reaffirming we are part of a global community of businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental impact, transparency and accountability—balancing purpose and profit to a greater end.

The Fragrance Laboratory: Aesop & Janet Laurence. Aesop Flinders Lane has been cleared of all products excluding fragrance and transformed into an immersive sensorial environment by artist Janet Laurence. The Fragrance Laboratory celebrates the alchemy of ingredients that lie behind our aromas, including new Virēre Eau de Parfum—an evocation of a verdant summer memory. If in Melbourne, do drop by before 7 October; otherwise, learn more about the installation at https://lnkd.in/eK8fuAyD.

Aesop Knightsbridge opened shortly after the dismantling of our installation at Salone del Mobile.Milano 2024, which used the pragmatic bar of soap as building material. In London, the very same slabs have been reconfigured into an enveloping structure, working around spatial restrictions to create a streamlined design. In a similar spirit of circularity, the basin and shelves were repurposed from previous stores—making this location a second home in more ways than one.

Seasonal opportunities in our stores and counters. Amid the frenetic pace of the festive season, our consultants provide customers with calm, efficient guidance. However bustling the space may be, they are trained to listen to a customer’s needs attentively and help find the appropriate item for their requirements—from a replenishing hydrator for the changing weather, to a gift that will inspire delight. If an honest and inclusive approach to sales sounds like it would make for an appealing work environment, you may like to explore our seasonal Retail Consultant opportunities here: https://lnkd.in/eGbzYn6h

Aesop Taichung—our first signature store in the city—is an homage to local fresh food markets. Designed with longstanding collaborators Torafu Architects, it centres on a communal basin encircling an existing pillar. Stacked modular hardboard boxes form the product shelves, while custom light fixtures reminiscent of market lamps hover above. A Fragrance Armoire—with a peachy hue evoking the sky at dawn—conceals our world of unconventional aromas.
