  • ▶Today, technology impacts every Australian. It enables banking, education and entertainment. It powers energy, enterprise and the way we all work. It is omnipresent and fundamental to the success of individuals, businesses and society. But technology is completely reliant upon one thing – our trust. The ACS Professional Standards Scheme (PSS) is a legal obligation. It dictates how we monitor, enforce and improve the professional standards of ACS Certified Professionals. Under the scheme, ACS Certified Professionals are provided with higher standards, quality reporting and a cap to civil liability of $2 million but must comply with insurance, continuous learning and disclosure obligations. In short, the PSS promotes professionalism, which builds trust. The current PSS, which began in January 2019 and expires at the end of this year, is under consideration for renewal, and all ACS members are entitled to participate in the public consultation. 👉DOWNLOAD the public consultation documents here: https://lnkd.in/g7i3p3pw 👉COMPLETE a survey and/or upload your submission here: https://lnkd.in/dEK3Ah4 👉Alternatively, you can email your written submission to: [email protected] By participating in the PSS public consultation, you are helping to ensure standards and that ACS continues to power Australia’s technology brilliance. ▶The widespread effects of last week’s Crowdstrike outage illustrate the complexities of modern technology and society.   What occurred on Friday can happen to any software developer or product and is why organisations need qualified and competent IT professionals to deal with critical technology incidents.   As the national organisation for technology professionals, ACS recognises the hard work done by our members to minimise Friday's disruptions and will be working with our partners to ensure they have access to best practices and professional advice.   In my role as ACS President, I’m proud of all our members and the wider community of IT professionals who worked hard over the weekend to minimise the effects upon the nation’s vital infrastructure.
