Today, we want to share Tom Christie's journey at ACOR. Tom joined ACOR in early 2018 with a background in building services, particularly mechanical engineering. His focus at ACOR has been primarily on Defence and Government projects. He has, however, delivered projects in other sectors such as commercial, retail, multi-residential, hospitality, education, and public facilities.   Tom's journey with ACOR began when he was appointed as the leader of mechanical services in our Melbourne office. He was responsible for growing the business and leveraging relationships and skills across the business, which allowed him the opportunity to spend time supporting the WA, NSW and QLD offices. Before the onset of COVID-19, Tom guided the establishment of a design management capability in the Victorian team. During this time, Tom grew our Victorian design management capability and helped lead the expansion of our Building Services team to 45 employees.   Tom is a recognised project leader and director on large, complex Defence projects across Australia, as well as a leader in the mechanical and building services area. He has delivered projects, such as the Riverina Redevelopment Programme and capability, infrastructure and facility upgrades at HMAS Cerberus, Victoria Barracks, HMAS Albatross, and Garden Island.   Tom is passionate about achieving sustainability outcomes on his projects. This includes working with clients such as Defence, who require a balance in delivering bespoke, fit-for-purpose training and capability facilities when achieving their sustainability objectives. Tom enjoys the challenge of blending both technical expertise and innovation in our services.   Join us to celebrate Tom's journey with ACOR. Now, as the VIC Leader, Tom actively serves in a client-facing and service-delivery role. He finds satisfaction in seeing the facility designs come to fruition. In his time with ACOR, Tom has been able to grow his technical, leadership and client management skills. He is eager to tackle the unique technical aspects of our projects and the chance to create innovative project designs that may arise only once in a lifetime.

We can't wait to hear about the thrilling and outstanding performances that the new Performing Art Centre at DARAMALAN COLLEGE will host. Our team at ACOR was involved in a wide range of services, including acoustics, building services, civil, facade, structural, sustainability, and vertical transport. What fantastic work by all the key consultants involved in this project—well done, everyone!

The DARAMALAN COLLEGE Performing Arts Centre is finished and due to open in Semester 2 this year. This playful new building has been designed in collaboration with the school team and our consultant team including specialist theatre consultants. Stewart Architecture was awarded the project following an invited competition in 2021. The 1500sqm centre provides a new home for creativity and expression with a 182-seat flexible theatre, designed to host a range of school gatherings. The building references the school’s existing red brick architecture and builds on the pattern of planning across the campus, defining the northeast corner of the site in Dickson, ACT. The theatre is wrapped with support and teaching spaces including change rooms, makeup prep and green room, two music teaching rooms, two drama teaching spaces, a dedicated band room and twelve sound-insulated practice rooms. Newly named the Issoudun Wing, the centre is the first building in Australia to propose using certified carbon neutral bricks and is built with Nubrik made by Australian brick manufacturers Brickworks Building Products.    Our warm thanks to the school team for their collaboration and commitment to quality and thanks to our collaborators Joss Constructions, ACOR Consultants, Guz Box Design Audio, Harris Hobbs Landscapes, Setting Line Theatre Consulting, THORHAMMER. We are saddened to hear of the passing of property developer and philanthropist Terry Snow over the weekend. Terry’s unique leadership style and his impact on the revitalization of Canberra Airport will be remembered as a testament to his forward-thinking approach. He not only inspired but directly contributed to the development of innovative buildings, which have set the standard for many commercial precincts to this day. Many ACOR people, particularly those who are in the ACT, are grateful for the opportunity to have worked on projects with Terry and his team. What distinguishes Terry is not only his business expertise but his unwavering encouragement and faith in the potential of others. His ability to bring out the best in everyone in the room spurred each person to deliver to their greatest potential. Terry was an inspiring leader, creating an inclusive atmosphere, enabling our team and those who worked with him to gain valuable skills and insights. Terry’s work and leadership example will continue to motivate those who had the privilege of learning from him, and the beautiful city of Canberra will showcase Terry and the team’s developments for many years to come. ACOR Consultants would like to express our deepest condolences to Terry Snow's family. Our thoughts are with them in this challenging time. What a fantastic event with some incredible talents across the industry! The bands and the audience rocked Oxford Art Factory last night at Construction Rocks 2024, a fundraising event organized by the Property Industry Foundation (PIF). Huge congratulations to PIF on the event's success and to MoTTown from Mott MacDonald, the winner of the Battle of the Bands! Some of the ACOR team members attended the event and were utterly amazed by the talents and dedication of everyone who participated! As the Principal Partner of the event, we are deeply grateful for the chance to participate in it and help the lives of homeless youth in our community. We hope everyone had a fantastic time at last night's event, just as Team ACOR did. More importantly, we hope the funds raised at this event will make a difference in the future of homeless youth. Congratulations to Off the CHarts from Charter Hall for winning both People's Choice and the Biggest Fundraiser!
