The strategy for achieving net-zero emissions in the Australian Public Service provides a plan and necessary actions for reducing emissions from government operations in Australia. It also aims to transition to net-zero emissions in property, energy, procurement, fleet, and travel, which impacts the Australian built environment and encourages a shift towards electric solutions for power sources. To learn more about navigating decarbonization and achieving net-zero emissions in the built environment, check out the following article by Adam Reeman, ACOR's leader of Property Portfolio Services. In his article, Adam shares his insights on this topic and, drawing from his extensive experience in the property sector, discusses how this strategy impacts and presents challenges to the industry.

Starting yesterday, July 7th, until this Sunday, July 14th, marks National NAIDOC Week, a time to honour and acknowledge the history, culture, and accomplishments of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The theme for this year is 'Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud' powerfully symbolises the unwavering resilience of Indigenous communities. It is a calling for everyone to unite in solidarity, amplify the voices that have been marginalised for so long, and draw inspiration from the remarkable perseverance of Indigenous communities. This theme embodies the enduring power of Indigenous cultures, passed down through generations, and their deep-rooted connection to the land, each other, and the rich heritage that defines Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It also encompasses the unapologetic celebration of Indigenous identity, encouraging pride, resilience, and assertion within the modern world. This theme advocates for reclaiming narratives, amplifying voices, and maintaining an unwavering commitment to justice and equality. Its goal is to ignite a renewed dedication to acknowledging, preserving, and sharing the cultural heritage that enriches our nation. It invites all Australians to actively listen, learn, and engage in meaningful dialogue, fostering a society where the wisdom and contributions of Indigenous peoples are fully recognised and respected. ACOR accepted this invitation by holding a Learning Lab on NAIDOC Week and ACOR's Reconciliation Action Plan. This session was hosted by Alex Paton, with Corey Rogers, ACOR Consultants' Indigenous Reconciliation Committee Chair, and Jake Long from Kinaway-The Victorian Aboriginal Chamber of Commerce sharing some insights on supporting Indigenous businesses. Through collective efforts, we believe we can create a future where the stories, traditions, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities are recognised, treasured, and celebrated. #NAIDOC2024 #NAIDOCWeek #BlakLoudProud
